    Rooney is U/16 Ferguson's dad didn't play
  2. Zidane Iqbal

Based on what I've seen watching him over the last few seasons he is a very talented footballer with an eye for goal. He's not phased by the physical side of the game either. He has been out injured for some time but I would have expected him to be a key member of our U/18 squad and play in the...

I understand that the U/23's played a friendly against West Bromwich Albion in midweek...usual 23's squad. Joe Hugill got both goals in a 2-1 win.

Because the U/18's are part of the Academy and all Academy matches are played at Carrington.

  9. 2020-21 FA Youth Cup

Inexperienced in terms of never having played in the FA Youth Cup before. Most teams are a mix of first, second and third years. These were nearly all first years in terms of first year in the U/18's.
  10. Which classic players do you think would thrive in modern football?

All the creative ball players from yesteryear would have a field day in the modern game. The pacy defenders would adapt fine. The hard men (attackers and defenders)...ponderous players...less skilled players wouldn't stand a chance.
  11. Which classic players do you think would thrive in modern football?

McQueen would get found out positionally and give away way too many free kicks in the modern game. His positioning was atrocious back in the 1970's so modern players would pull him all over the place. Houston was slightly more cultured but wasn't as quick so his pace would let him down.
  12. 2020-21 FA Youth Cup

Most inexperienced FA Youth Cup team ever in our history...
  13. Gordon McQueen

This is terrible news...I never really rated him as a defender, particularly tactically nor his man marking skills. Great in the air and bombing forward though. I wish him all the best but sadly think we be hearing more about these types of illnesses connected with football. A real shame.

I remember this was one of the issues with Pogba back in 2012 when his agent wanted a guaranteed minimum number of first team games. Ferguson explained very clearly at the time that even Rooney wasn't guaranteed a starting place in the first team nor guaranteed a certain number of appearances...
