Starting to look like the player he always promised to be. And he’s staying fit for longer these days. Just one more step up and he will be top class. I hope he starts doing those long runs he used to do where he would get the ball in the left...
  • Yes, no understanding between them, so many passes without the right run. But on a general note, I don’t think Martial was that bad. He does a good job holding the ball and is strong, even if other parts of his game are off at the moment. He is...

Despite a few ragged spells I thought we played well against a determined, in-form opponent. Perfectly acceptable. And, to me, very entertaining. Stressful last ten but what’s new?
  • He looks promising and could develop into a very good player. Not sure if he will be good enough to hold down a first team place for several seasons, it’s too early to say. He needs a decent run of games in a similar position. I think he would...
  • I wouldn’t rather see him here at all. I wouldn’t even say he is (or ever has been, as first teamer) any good at all, because I don’t know. I didn’t see him play, except for the odd clip, after he left us. I don’t know why he has never settled...
  • Thanks for posting that. I do remember seeing it now. But he barely played for West Ham in three years. His career history and appearance record suggest he is actually rubbish (despite having a truckload of ability). Ability was not the issue...
  • Sure, I feel bad using James for comparison. Youth Ravel was awesome, for a youth player. What I’m trying to gauge is whether he ever reached a level that would get him into our senior squad as it is today.
  • I’m sure that’s true but I haven’t seen him play since he left us. Is he so very much worse than he was when he was here? As a barometer, would you say “peak” Ravel was better than (say) Dan James?
  • If, in a bizarre twist, we took him back for half a season, how much better or worse would he be than Dan James? (Not intended as Dan bashing, just hypothesising).
  • If playing as CB will he stop pushing and giving away fouls? If so easy he should stop now, while playing midfield! But anyway, he won’t become a top CB while playing for us as he won’t be selected to play there very often. With more...
  • His current skill set makes no6 his best position. Strong, mobile, good defensively, decent in the air. His passing isn’t good enough though. He might have the attributes to be a CB but I can’t see him playing there at the top level. CB is a...
  • Captain today. I hope this is a last ditch attempt to get this lad to take some responsibility, show for the ball, boss the game more. By which I mean I hope this is not a reward for his recent performances (which have been poor bar Leeds).
  • I will be surprised if we sign any true improvements on the first 11 this window. Pleasantly surprised, not to say fully stoked. Just one bump up in quality in the four key areas of CB DM RW and CF will help a lot. Lately I’ve found calls for a...

Funny! But speculation is all it is, mostly, anyway. I’m happier if posters say how they wanted to see us play rather just say we are badly coached. The table says we are not badly coached. But not everyone likes how we play, that’s fine. Post away!
  • We could as easily win as lose so a draw seems likely. Pens will be a lottery. Sure would be nice to get through. I think our improvement over the last year merits a trophy, even if only the little one that nobody cares about.
