I know McTominay's an easy target and a popular player to mindlessly hate on but he was pretty good until the deflection.

Trying to find the right balance between respecting Bruno, because he seems like a positive influence on the squad and works his socks off, and it being plainly obvious that he's been poor for about 18 months and there are no signs of it getting better.

He is one of the best players I've ever seen in picking passes on a counter attack, but he has dropped a level since 2-3 years ago and I don't think we'll be a dominant team with him in it. It's a shame that we dropped a load of money on a back-up who is never available.

Kimmich offers a hell of a lot more than an attacking midfielder who is perceived to specialise around that area of the pitch. Yes it was a low percentage chance, but if the player is also making that decision every time he is in that position, then you've contradicted your own point.

Very good comment. I was perturbed by the headline as it implies that we’re ignoring meritocracy but, as you’ve said, the Mail do focus on certain aspects - although I’m surprised Adam Crafton goes along with that.

I get that but Muslera probably should have saved it and he's just been so wasteful with the ball in that position this season. Amazing goal against Burnley to be fair, but he does try the spectacular an awful lot.

Exactly this. Hojlund should be scoring goals, but we're such a painfully dysfunctional side that we're relying on 'moments' again.

What happened to him being a threat from distance? Used to hit them so much better... Really like Bruno but he's been terrible lately and Mount/Eriksen should both have come in for him if they were fit.

I think it’s not so much that they are not very good players, rather the problem is the insistence on playing them regardless of form/opposition. Rashford’s been rightly dropped, but Bruno has been pretty poor recently and we could be a lot more tactically flexible if we didn’t insist on...

So mentally draining; you spend all of last season clinging onto top four, get it and then you're on the brink after two games. What is the point? Such a frustrating match and season so far.

Scott McTominay has barely any social media presence, has been with the club since he was a kid and doesn't strike as a 'brat'. I don't think it's him.

Hope he does well if he comes; going into the season with Casemiro from the last month's performances would be a major risk. Not fair on Amrabat but this does all feel a bit Woodward-esque.
