  • Sayros replied to the thread Martial: Sevilla, Here we go!.
He could have played a role here given how poor the team has been or the players ahead of him, but this is a much better option for him and for United's ability to eventually sell him. He's going to a very competitive team that's actually...

This was definitely a better performance against one of the better defense of the league. It definitely changed for the better once Messi came on. Would have liked to see Xavi Simons come in though, Danilo is the huge weak link in that midfield.
  • Ah yes, the body language experts and Martial's lack of smiling, those were the good days. His lack of celebration shouldn't be a big shock and it isn't a message. He got out there, ran his socks off, and played the way we can assume Ragnick...

To be fair, that title win means more than anything United, Chelsea, or Liverpool put together as well. It was just such an unlikely win built on shrew business off a fraction of the budget of those other teams.
  • Outside of his shaky first game back from injury, he has been solid and definitely the best defender on the team by some distance. I just hope he manages to stay fit and can keep building on these performances because he can be a very calming...

If nothing else, he should stay for being the one player who doesn't take those ridiculous long-distance shots that are basically giving up on the possession and turning the ball over. I don't know how so many players at Manchester United think...

That's the feeling they give me as well. It's beautiful to watch (although terribly frustrating experience to deal with as a fan of the opposition), but it feels like there's a bit of uncanny valley with them, it looks and plays like an...
  • Yeah, I'm not getting fooled by that either, but I never really expect that out of his game, it's more his ball retention, touch, ability to link up in tight spaces that has always been interesting to see. This team is not firing on all cylinders...
  • Sayros replied to the thread I don’t celebrate goals anymore.
It was a very quick check at least.
  • I've had this issue so many times. I just put on my noise cancelling headphones, turn off notifications from my football app, and just zone out everybody.
  • It's still too soon to say anything definitive, not every one progresses in a linear fashion, and I don't know that it's bad for his development to be on the wing for now. I think it will help him when/if he eventually moves to the center forward...
  • I don't think those claims are based on anything he's done at United and more what he did at Dortmund, which is a very different environment and a league made for attacking players to blow up their stats. I'm sure Greenwood would be a monster...
  • I’m sure some had their entire system belief shaken after United’s goal against West Ham. Martial actually impacting the game?! And running his socks off to help create the goal??!!? What madness is this?
