  1. Greatest player of all time (Forget longevity)

From the material available, his peak was likely from 1959-62. Just way higher performances and output in that timeframe Extremely unfortunate that he got injured during the '62 WC
  2. Lionel Messi is OFFICIALLY the Greatest Player of all Time (CONFIRMED OFFICIAL)

I wouldn't agree with Maradona having a better peak than Pelé, either, unless we are talking about single tournament performance over a month. Pelé arguably had a higher (or at least equal) one or three-year peak than Maradona from '59-'61 and might compare to Messi in that regard.
  3. Lionel Messi is OFFICIALLY the Greatest Player of all Time (CONFIRMED OFFICIAL)

People heavily overestimate that and always use CR7 who is a freak in that regard as an example. I'll give you a counterexample: Who is this club's all-time top scorer, and do you think his performance was even close to optimized? Or how about Eden Hazard?
  4. Greatest individual player World Cup of all time?

Single WC, Messi's 2022 is probably around Top 5-10. Maradona '86 was better, no doubt. Cruyff '74 and Pele '70 other contenders. As an overall WC player, Pele is still #1 if you consider his 58WC too.
  5. Greatest World Cup Final of all time?

Yeah, it is. One that rivals it from the footage I've seen is the 1954 Final (full game not available). 3rd best would be 1966.
  6. Lionel Messi | PSG Watch

Messi is arguably the best player ever, but I want to talk about something a bit negative. Now that Lionel Messi has finally put on some truly legendary performances at the World Cup at the age of 35, can we admit that some of his fans have had to engage in mental gymnastics to defend his past...
  7. 1979 documentary Football is dying?

Just about the title, not the content, to be honest: The year is interesting because 1977-1979 was arguably the weakest looking period of superstars post WW2, with the 70s greats being past it and 80s stars not being there yet for whatever reason simultaneously. Similarly, for clubs—the...
  8. Has there ever been any value in Manchester United buying from other top tier clubs, historically?

Some of the best player of the past decade all made the transfer from one top club to another in their primes. Ronaldo, Luis Suárez, Lewandowski (BVB CL Finalist when he left), Neymar.
  9. Why did Real Madrids Galacticos fail so much?

Well, they won trophies in 2001/02 and 2002/03. In 2003/04, they had Raúl Bravo and Pavón starting, who I'd say are pretty mediocre. At that point, Salgado, Helguera, and Carlos were also past their best.
  10. Is Cristiano Ronaldo a United Legend?

I would say his playing career for them would be enough, but it's certainly debatable.
  11. Is Cristiano Ronaldo a United Legend?

Cruyff for Ajax and Barcelona. Zidane? I'm not entirely sure how he is viewed by Juventus supporters.
  12. International Careers only: Are Messi & Ronaldo in the top 10?

No chance Despite having a gazillion chances at the WC & Euro/CA their memorable games vs strong teams are rather rate Not Top 100 is a massive exeggaration though I think around 50 players or so you'd have to start reaching
  13. So now what happens to Karim Benzema? | Hat-tricks, lots of hat-tricks

There will never be a unanimous Ballon D'Or with the current voting system. Somebody will vote for some random player even with journos from only the top 100 countries eligible (FF changed it this year).
  14. Kylian Mbappe signs new contract at PSG until 2025 | LaLiga will file a complaint

Is the money a vast, massive factor that tipped the scale? Yeah, probably. But there are other factors, too - I can see the appeal PSG has from a sporting perspective for Mbappe, born in Paris. The squad is competitive, French clubs are historically underachieving in club football, and it would...
  15. Disaster in Mexico: Fan Riot in Querétaro vs. Atlas Leaves Multiple Casualties

It seems to be a setup where the club had to be somehow involved. Atlas supporters couldn't bring anything into the stadium, while Queretaro fans showed up with guns and ice picks. The police didn't intervene. The government and media are trying to cover it up, reporting no deaths. AP and BBC...
