The toxicity that can come from a fanbase can lead to an impact on the pitch or the general environment at the club, especially with social media now. Southgate would not lift spirits in that regard, I don't see the supporter base getting behind him for the overhaul required.

Southgate just can't be the answer. There is no way he will be given a long enough leash by the supporters once things hit a rocky period.
