Agreed. You're spot on to say that these situations can come down to seconds; it's certainly worth reviewing protocols to ensure that a stricken player has the best care possible as quickly as possible. It was a bit ridiculous to watch the...

Could be wrong, but presumably his breathing was extremely laboured and/or erratic - a footballer is probably unlikely to understand the limited efficacy of clearing the airway in that case all things considered?
  • TheMagicFoolBus replied to the thread Christian Eriksen.
Yeah agreed - though my initial impression was that Kjaer was more focused on making sure Eriksen's airway was clear. I didn't see him doing chest compressions or anything like that, but obviously there were no replays and I definitely could have...

Agreed with everything you've said. It's all a matter of probability and maximising the odds - haven't seen anything reported that would suggest that inaction worsened Eriksen's chances.

I think that you are probably right to suggest that there should be more proactivity with regards to how to deal with this type of crisis and making sure everyone is available, but I do think that this quote from the Danish team doctor is...
  • Gotcha, makes sense! Certainly I wouldn't argue that there isn't a massive dearth of creativity when it comes to your attacking set piece design.
  • Sure - and I agree with your broader point about the effectiveness of near post corners generally. Just would slightly quibble with that being called a near post corner when it was passed twice before being crossed in from deep (i.e. deeper than...
  • Eh sort of - was a short corner routine with the CF making a looping run just past the penalty spot. Wouldn't classify that as a near post corner personally.
  • TheMagicFoolBus replied to the thread Erling Haaland.
    Yeah that's probably best practice!

Ah apologies! Then it seems their UK site is using today's conversion rate then. Here's their main site: https://www.transfermarkt.com/rio-ferdinand/profil/spieler/3235 And here you can find the exchange rate on July 22nd, 2002 - 0.6394 euros...
  • TheMagicFoolBus replied to the thread Achraf Hakimi.
I must say it's odd going into a transfer head to head with another club whilst having a comparatively more settled coaching situation
  • TheMagicFoolBus replied to the thread Achraf Hakimi.
Yeah, they're apparently pretty keen on Emerson though - if he has a decent showing at the Euros tossing him into the deal might go some ways towards meeting Inter's asking price.
  • I think one thing Chelsea have done that's perhaps ahead of the curve compared to other English clubs is they've very clearly established the power structure - especially in the wake of Mourinho's second stint which ultimately was a colossal...

You're using current exchange rates. In July 2002 one euro was 0.639 GBP. 30m GBP at the time was 46m euros.

Yeah I can see what you mean, but at the same time if James is playing RWB for Chelsea week-in week-out is it an easier transition to playing RB for England than going from RCB to RB? I'd argue that the latter might be a bit easier given how...
