It's also a Manchester thing. We always put a 'y' at the end of a nickname.(Keany)

Example. TheDevil'sOwny

Thats not true, surely?

Ive never noticed that...

Maybe ive been down south too long...

Nearly all my mates have a 'y' at their nickname. At school it was mix, but generally a lot of them ended with y's. Butty, Giggsy, Scholsey etc That's just a few of the local lads in our team.

Seems to be spreading. Keaney. :nervous:

Probably not. Just a different end to tack on to Smith.

Dubai Devil = Doob = Dubsey = Dudger or something.
Thats a bit rubbish. I get Sparky and Choccy, but Smudger is weird.

Smudger goes with Smith for some reason - like Tug goes with Wilson and other such strange British nicknames.

Another manchester thing is to finish as many words as you can with 'or' - as in 'Manchestor' or 'fivor'.

To get it right you really only pronounce the 'o' and leave out the 'r'.

You'l hear this dialect more in Salford than anywhere else though.

maybe he's left handed, and always smudged his homework with his hand...

lets be fair, its better than some of the reasons banded about...
