Striker light! £3.5m per goal
They cost £70million to recruit but Manchester United's star-studded strike force has been put in the shade by Andy Johnson. The Crystal Palace forward - who cost £750,000 - is in a team staring relegation in the face, yet his 19 league goals this season is the same number Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Alan Smith and Louis Saha have managed between them. It is a statistic that highlights what has been United's biggest problem in the Premiership this campaign - scoring goals. They have only 48 from 33 league games, and just 19 of them came from their much-vaunted strikers - a cost of £3.56m a goal. Arsenal have 73 goals and Chelsea 62. United are on course for their lowest goals tally since the dark days of 1990 when Sir Alex Ferguson almost lost his job as manager. The defeat at Everton on Wednesday was the 10th time they have failed to score in the league this season.

I just don't understand why people want to write about this topic soo much. Ok so we haven't scored as much as we should, but not once in the article does it mention the injury problems that Saha and Ruud faced this season. All this fuss over how little we score, but we are still in 3rd place and fighting for 2nd. Many teams would instantly pay £70million to be in our position. Yes we spent alot on these strikers and they didn't score as many goals as expected, but it can't all be placed on them. Any thoughts?
