What is actually happening to the bloke then? Always seemed quite a sturdy driver, but heard that he was moving on.
This his problem, he's sturdy and that only gets you so long in F1 before someone else gets a go. I think he will probably go to IndyCar if he can't get a seat.
But I don't understand, bar the money, why Maldonado goes up in the world while the likes of Di Resta stays put. Is it really all about money now and not about quality? Di Resta, although not a daring driver, is far more reliable than Maldonado, yet he gets chosen because of his sponsorships. It's actually embarrassing for Lotus to go down that road, and I fully expect them to drop down the Constructor's table next season because of it. I see at least 4 drivers more capabale and more deserving of thats seat than Pastor.
If someone takes his seat Force India he will be joining Indy car, It really is a shame to see one of the better drivers leave the sport. The problem for drivers like Di Resta is that being a good racer won't secure you a seat in F1 anymore. Being fast will get you noticed but you need a multi million pound sponsor to open doors for you.
For some teams that is the case. It's an expensive sport and without the help of 'pay drivers' they would struggle.
Yep its pretty much money, you have to be super talented to get in F1 and stay there on talent alone. A few years back there was a Williams financial sheet leaked and it had Pastor's PDVSA money at £30 million a year, which is huge money for a mid-sized team, they can basically fund a season of development on that alone.
I don't rate Di Resta that highly but he is good enough to be in F1, he basically needed Force India to build a car that could get him noticed and it hasn't really happened. He should go to IndyCar's and he will be one of the strongest there if he gets in a decent team, if he excels he will get a chance in F1 again. It won't be easy because oval driving is a different beast altogether but he should stand out on the circuits.
Lotus are skint, they need the money.
How does Lotus do in terms of funds then, I honestly thought they were one of the" better off " teams of the bunch? Couldn't they have done with a Hulkenburg or a Massa in their team instead of a Maldonado who I see getting very few points let alone a podium next season?

Not seen anything. With the timing of it I'm not sure if he will join anyone, at least not for 2014.

He's won everything multiple times, what more is there to prove? If he joins the FIA he can improve the sport from within, please start by ditching DRS and cheese tyres.
Oh he's got nothing to prove, I just think it'd be nice to keep him around as a technical mind for a team.
