The daft thing is it now gives Allardyce the chance to laugh at him and point out how, as was his intention, he has annoyed LVG. You really can't win with this sort of stuff.
if it was rodgers, i'm sure you'd be saying the same...Nah, he was right. Could have laughed it off, but he was still right and he had the stats to back it up.
Cue shouts of "meltdown" from the Caf though..
Why respond to big Sam's bait?Nah, he was right. Could have laughed it off, but he was still right and he had the stats to back it up.

I agree with that, he was definitely irked - but far, far from any "meltdown" as many - both United fans and others - will be eager to portrait it as.Why respond to big Sam's bait?
It's not a "meltdown" but it shows signs that the criticism is getting to him.
Too true.If Liverpool served up that shite on Sunday and Rodgers came out with this in his presser, everyone here would be breaking their bollix laughing and winding @Barney up about it.
That's the point though - opposition fans and journalists will lap this up no end.I agree with that, he was definitely irked - but far, far from any "meltdown" as many - both United fans and others - will be eager to portrait it as.
IndeedNope. Giving them exactly what they wanted
Yeah, but that doesn't really matter. I don't care what opposition fans and journalists are saying - most of them are not worth paying any attention to.That's the point though - opposition fans and journalists will lap this up no end.
The argument is that a lot of our long balls were sideways passes and not aimless hoofs upfield.Am I just the only one that sees Allardyce was right? We played more long balls in total and our percentage is higher than theirs, or am I just not seeing something right?
Media has all the ammunition they need now.Shtats not fachtsTweet

I think it's the overall % (which was still almost 50%) and the directed balls, rather than aimlessly hoofed.Am I just the only one that sees Allardyce was right? We played more long balls in total and our percentage is higher than theirs, or am I just not seeing something right?
That's brilliant!Louis van Gaal tells MUTV Luke Shaw (suspension) & Michael Carrick (injury) are United's only confirmed absentees vs Burnley tomorrow.

Ah, cheers !The argument is that a lot of our long balls were sideways passes and not aimless hoofs upfield.

We had nearly twice as many passes than WH though, so even though we played more long balls forward, WH were the ones that looked for that play more. His facts sheet clearly shows we played more long balls than Westham and also a higher percentage of long balls than Westham. WTF is LVG doing.
Sam called us long ball United. He knew what he was doing and it's worked.I'm still not sure what his point is? All Sam said was that we resorted to long balls and they couldn't cope with it at the end. I don't care what his stats say, we did go long once Fellaini came on and it worked a treat. He should be gloating that his tactical change paid off.
That's what gets me.Remember fergie used to wind up actual rivals? Louis got outwitted by the God damn West Ham manager.

Exactly. The stats mean feck all - the fact is that we resorted to playing long balls, as we have in other games this season. How else does he explain putting Fellaini on instead of Mata or Herrera?I'm still not sure what his point is? All Sam said was that we resorted to long balls and they couldn't cope with it at the end. I don't care what his stats say, we did go long once Fellaini came on and it worked a treat. Big Sam isn't a rival though. Van Gaal is entitled to reaspond and defend himself IMO.Remember fergie used to wind up actual rivals? Louis got outwitted by the God damn West Ham manager.
No we had a higher percentage overall. 22.5% to Westham and 24.2% for us. They played more of those to the forwards than us, but we still played half our long balls to the forwards 49.9% so we were a long ball team, you could see it just by watching too. All his stats do is confirm it, what a muppet. We had nearly twice as many passes than WH though, so even though we played more long balls forward, WH were the ones that looked for that play more.
