All 3 players served as catalysts to their sides winning the champions league
I will give you Sneijder but, he has obviously fallen way off since that treble season. And how was Robben and Ribery both the catalyst for Bayern's CL win? And people forget that Robben was on the bench that season until Kroos was injured against Juve.

Nothing wrong with having 4 quality strikers which we had in 1999 when we won the treble. Berbatov didn't work out but it was worth a go as it is hard to improve on the double winners. centre midfield was the area we most needed to fill but for some reason Sir Alex preferred to rinse every last drop out of Scholes and then Giggs rather than sign a talented young centre midfielder and to this day we still don't have a top class centre midfielder, so I agree with you there. I just don't think Modric was the obvious choice unless you rely on hindsight for your football views. Perhaps a cheeky bid for Pirlo as Milan finished 5th in 2008 and won nothing?
The difference between zlaten and berbatov is mentality, zlaten believes not only should he be here, he thinks he is on that level of the best players, berbatov never felt for one minute he deserved to be here. Zlaten likes an edge to his game cantona had that, its what keeps himself on his toes and its why he is he a leader. He wont shrink from a challenge no pun intended that he is 6 ft 5 LOL, and that is key on what makes a top player like zlaten, and players like berbatov able to handle the heat. You look at zlaten and I think defenders will fear him, berbatov I never saw when he walked on the pitch, he would put the fear of god into his opponents, zlaten I can see doing that. We will see how it turns out for zlaten, but for me I think a bid for aguero should have been the target, and at 35 million aguero could have been a bargain to replace tevez.

I do feel going into the 2009/10 season, it should have been robben and sneider signed, robben on the left, nani on the right, sneider playing behind rooney, or aguero playing behind rooney, and berbatov sold or on the bench. Too many mediocre players started taking the starting places like cancer, it just showed a combination of fergie's value for money era 2009-12, moyes and VG have set us back, and who knows how we will fair this season
