Anyone know if the game will be on bars around the stadium? Brother in law will travel down without tickets if he's not successful. He's already pre-booked hotel rooms. I'm down in London for work anyway on Monday 27th so i'm tempted to join him the day before.

Yeah it'll definitely be shown in any bar that has a screen I'd imagine.

Barely any pubs near the ground show it.

Been stuck outside a few times and had to jump on a tube (or wait until they open the fire exits at HT)

With that many tickets, any chance of those of us with seven credits being successful?
Surely the silly kick off time and high price will deter plenty?

Although i'd need it to put about 20,000 off with my 2 FA Cup credits out of the 8 cup games

Stand by my choice though. Those 6 midweekers would have been very hard to arrange, and living 180miles away I wouldn't really want to do another 6 !!

I can't make the Wigan game tomorrow but have family going in adjacent seats. Have 2 seats, together block 1405 N Stand lower tier, about half way between penalty area and centre circle towards East stand. Face value or near it. Can meet outside ground.

After 12 years supporting United, finally getting to see my first match at OT on Wednesday v Hull. I'll be getting into Manchester Piccadilly around 5pm, anyone recommend somewhere near the stadium to check out until kickoff? (apologies if this is the wrong thread for that)

There's the Lowry mall that has cinema, restuarants, shops, food court etc, about a 10min walk away from the ground...

I'd walk over to the the northern quarter from Piccadilly enjoy a few bars etc then get a tram over to old Trafford around 7pmish.

Alternatively by a tram slightly earlier and go to bishops blaze/the Trafford etc before the match.

Get the altringham line from Piccadilly.

Head to Sam Platt's pub. Two minutes from the stadium with a marquee fall of fans singing etc.

Cheers all, I like the sound of that pub!

Not sure if I'd be able to make it up but would tickets against saint etienne be easy enough to get?
I think they're going/already gone on general sale? Could be wrong though.

I did a day trip from London for the Zorya game. It involves getting a 6-hour bus back to London through the night and getting back at 6am but yeah, it's doable.

@Bebe, my pre-match is now to head down to Castlefield, grab a few beers there and take the barge to the game, that way you skip all the horrific hour long queue for the tram too after the match as the canal barge takes you back to Castlefield just 20 mins after the match.

Worth thinking about:

Not sure if this has been asked else where but......has the club announced how many season ticket holders have 8 cup match credits. I am on 7 out of 8 after a f*ck up at the bank cost me the West Ham EFL Cup match. Looking to book a train for the final but I want to be confident ill be successful before shelling out for the train.

Not entirely sure. I think they only normally release that information after the ballot has taken place? Someone here might know better than me though.

Yeah I have seen them release in the past but as you say....its usually afterwards.

55,000 ST holders. 31,000 allocation. I suspect 60% of ST' will have 8 credits and of those 60% the majority, say 90% will go to the final. That's 29700 spoken for. leaving only 1,300 for us lads on 7 credits.

Not liking my chances

I think you'll stand a good chance. I had 9/10 for the FA Cup last season and managed to get a return (with thanks to this great thread) at the last minute. I can't see there being as much interest in the League Cup Final, and with a bigger allocation this time around I'd be a lot more confident.

I am hoping a lot opted out of Europa. I suspect that to be the case too as if the ticket sales for the Europa where good. The clubs PR would have been all over it but I have read nothing.

My concern is that I didn't get an Everton FA Cup semi last year being one credit short.

I think it will go to 7 credits but no further. How do they select which people on 7 credits are winners and loosers?

I am thinking those with 100% credits in the competition will be first.....of which I have missed one!

Then seats selected.......I was going to go tactical and go for the cheapest possible option and most expensive possible option with the majority going for the middle of the road tickets.

I also did the shield if that carries any weight.

I think the club should be more clear in how its is done.

looks like an interesting option - how much does it cost? you buy drinks on the barge?

although the queue for the tram is never an hour and I tend to have a post match drink anyway

Yeah I was back at Piccadilly via the tram within an hour of the game finishing yesterday having been one of the last out of Stretty tier 2.

Seriously? If I wait till the final whistle and walk I've had loads of queues over 45 mins.

Think the barge is 14 quid return journey, nice little bar onboard, drop off and pick up at hotel footy.

bit pricey for a regular travel option but probably worth a go as a one off

Im a fast walker, I think those few mins makes all the difference! TBF I am often travelling South on the tram rather than back into town anyway so I suppose its not the same wait

I have a single ticket going for the game v Bournemouth on the 4th of March. Game is confirmed on that date and is a 12.30 kick off.

In the NW Quadrant.
