Fellaini is a big clumsy oaf. We need aggression with actual football ability attached to it, not a towering bruiser whose technical ability is comparable to a pile of dog shit.
It's a dead rubber game today to see out the tie. He's just safety policy. Nothing to be too wound up for game like today.

Got a bad feeling Jose will set out on his crusade to prove the world wrong about his pet Fellaini again and leave this man rotting in the stands. He needs to make some good decisions in the coming weeks if the injuries are bad or the season will be curtains.

I'll likely get shot down for this but I personally think he's still a better player than both Fellaini (obviously) and Carrick and should be getting a lot more minutes for us than he currently is.
He was our best midfielder last year when he was fit.

I don't see what Jose sees in Fellaini and I don't think I ever will.
It's sad that Bastian can't get a game and maroane plays on the regular.

Add Moyes and LVG to that list. His continued run baffles me. He was completely non-existent yesterday. It was as if we were playing only 2 players in midfield.

I think he was very good today and Mourinho's ought to use him more often considering our schedule.

How can he be below Fellaini in the pecking order? What does Fellaini really offer that Bastian doesn't?

The only thing I can think of is running and defensive headers. And despite the running he's poor in actually tracking runners and making interceptions because he has very little awareness of what's going on around him. A nothing player.

Give me Schweinsteiger anytime, especially against crap teams. He's a comfortable on the ball, can spot a pass and he's a leader with world class pointing.

100% agree - he offers vastly more to the team than Fellaini does. Mobility is everything in midfield and Fellaini is like a bus trying to change direction.

I think it comes down to commitment to the club more than anything, or Mourinho's view on it at least.

Fellaini comes across as very committed to being here, and it has been touched upon by Mourinho in the past.

Can't say much about Schweinsteiger's attitude because we have barely seen him I guess, but I'm sure Mourinho would know more.

With the that being said, I'd still take a Schweinsteiger who isn't arsed over Fellaini and his elbows.

The total exclusion of Bastian is about the only gripe I have with Jose's tenure so far. He would have been a more adept stand-in than Fellaini in more than a few matches this season.

Somehow I can't help to shake the feeling that the whole Bastian debacle was some sort of statement from Jose. A player who previously enjoyed huge freedom under LvG and also favouritism with questionable attitude (going to tennis matches, not being match fit, going to Germany etc), firmly put in his place by Jose.

No slight on Jose if he did, since the reports about Bastian wasn't favourable at all and I think he took advantage of being the teachers pet under LvG, but if he got match fit and played for a move for us (he will move in the summer) then he still would have been useful.

Well that's random. One less player available for the crazy run in! (I guess it doesn't matter as Jose was never going to play him in the PL)

This one's been in talks for a while, so it wouldn't be surprising. 150-200k off the wage bill (depending on what you believe) for a player who doesn't contribute on the field sounds good to me.

Schweinsteiger
“Throughout my career, I’ve always sought opportunities where I hoped to make a positive impact and to help make something great,” Schweinsteiger said in a statement via the club. “My move to Chicago Fire is no different. Through my conversations with Nelson and Pauno, I'm convinced by the club’s vision and philosophy and I want to help them with this project.”
Manager:
Schweinsteiger, 32, comes to Chicago as only the second reigning World Cup champion to move to MLS. He could join coach Veljko Paunovic’s team by the middle of next week, depending on his P1 visa application and a physical.

“We’re adding someone who has won at every level, including the very highest levels, and has done so in a way that is consistent with our values,” Fire general manager Nelson Rodriguez said. “We as a club will now be forced to hold ourselves to a higher standard, an accountability level. Previously, I think we could satisfy ourselves with what is known domestically. Now we need to rise to a standard that is set more internationally.”
