Unfortunately it takes him to be linked with Barcelona for some people to realise how good he actually is. I've said it before but he's arguably the most complete midfielder in the league. Should be made captain for next season.

What does this even mean?
It means like every player he has good games and bad games but in my book he has more bad games than a top class midfielder should? Not sure that was very difficult to understand.

I think he needs competition for his place so that a) it forces him to keep his levels high b) he gets the opportunity to be rested.

We've made two contract extension announcements in the last couple of days, hopefully Ander with a new 4 year deal is up next.

Saw what Mata was trying to do ala stop the ''Rondaldinho under the wall shot'. Good thinking by Herrera and tbh anyone could have been asked to do it. It's not that Mata is a pushover.

Why is it illegal though? What rule does it break?

One thing Herrera needs to improve is long range shooting. He was actually good at it when he first came here. I think he got 8 goals that season. This season, you just know that the ball is going to end up in the stands before he even takes the shot. Maybe two years of Van Gaal's no shooting outside the box rule has made him rusty.

long passing too. Should pay Scholes as a private coach for a week or two to teach him few things

He doesn't need an armband to be a leader, but yes, he should be the captain. You could tell by looking at the cup celebrations he was the natural leader of the squad.
Rooney is leaving. De Gea and Smalling are not certainties to stay. Carrick won't be a regular starter. Valencia is not vocal enough. Once he signs his new contract this summer, he should be made captain.

Herrera has been asked to play in a more defensive formation. As I have said I hope he can be pushed more forward next season. The goals will come.
Nothing wrong with his passing. In fact he is one of the best around. Very effective.
I like where he is playing now. He has produced his best football in this position so why change it. I would actually like us to add another box-to-box midfielder who can provide a few goals from midfield. Herrera is a good short passer. But his long passing can certainly be improved.

You also do not have to be the most talented person on the pitch to be the captain - Gary Neville is a good example of that. To be a captain, I think one needs to be passionate, be able to take and give instructions from the coach, communicate well and be 100% committed all the time. Herrera ticks all those boxes and more for me.

I'll never forget his performance against us back in the day, ever since that day I wanted him here. Delighted we have him, incredibly underrated at times.

Absolutely! He is kind of like Evra in the sense they are both foreign but have developed a deep knowledge of United's history and know what it means to play for our club and wear our badge with so much pride. Love them both to bits.

I'm glad that it looks like he's staying. He seems to love the club and city, like Evra before him.

But I would be on the 1st flight to Barcelona if I were in his shoes.

Beautiful city, Catalans and Basques aren't so different, and the chance to play with Messi (The GOAT).

People must be absolute idiots if they think we need an upgrade on Herrera. This guy is the real deal and it's no surprise that Barca are now keeping an eye on him.
Agreed.
I think Herrera is so important for us now, I would liken him to an engine - take the engine out of a car and the car will go nowhere. That's how important he is for us.
And the fact that he (and Valencia) won the POTY awards this season, confirms this.
