I have the pleasure of being involved with 2 sports teams. 1 soccer & 1 gaelic Football. The Soccer team is in a lower division but the team has won something every season in last 3 years.
My Gaelic team I help manage are the best in the county. Its a real privilege to be involved.
I was listening to Gareth Southgate last night on talk sport. HE actual came out with some good things. He has stopped all phones during food and certain times of day. Acknowledges that he would like to see the team bond and jell better.
I only manage 2 teams under 14, but I am amazed at how shite they are at talking to each other. Its all small groups of 3-4 friends. No real interaction. I see it on the field, they look out for a pass to their friend, before the player beside them. Celebrations are muted when they win, Its all very boring and impersonal. I am bringing the Gaelic team out now for a teambuilder start of April. I just want to see some craic and smiles.
