He's about Wes Hoolahan level. Ireland bring Wes on for the last 15 minutes of games and he has that magic to unlock a defense. But put him on from the start and you are basically playing with 10 men as he's too slow and weak to make any mark. For the wages he's on you could have a far better player in the squad to impact matches such as a Zaha or a Mahrez

Occasionally. Its been a mediocre period for Mata too. Every now and then he's got a goal or created something but we thought we were buying a star and instead he's been a cog.
Would rather still have anyone of Nani Zaha or even Adnan over Juan Mata.

When you look at the supposed 'stars' we've brought to the club post Fergie then he's done well to at least stay relatively consistent, and offer good moments of quality, a reliable guy in an ever changing forward line, it can't be that easy forever having to fit in with new players.

It's sad for him he has been here during such a turbulent time, and under three managers who know noting about how a United team should play.

Time to sell him. He's 30, a year left on his contract and is constantly played out of position.

When played as a right winger, we are effectively hamstrung as he can't do the usual things of running beyond defenders or dribbling. He also disjointed he team by coming into a central role.

Completely different player as an attacking mid with pace around him, but we rarely play him there.

Great bloke and an amazing player in the right position, but I'm afraid he is a weakness to the tesm in the way he is currently used.

Time to sell.

Mata has always been a moments player here. His lack of pace and athleticism is well documented but I think the worst is how he never really takes responsibility for finding the final pass or taking risks creatively.

His last good game was probably Crystal Palace away, small pitch where we needed some composure against a team sitting back. Unfortunately those types of game are few and far between in the league.

I'm kinda glad that the penny has dropped. The guy's probably been the most misunderstood (overrated) player I've ever seen.

He's been described as 'creative' ever since he's joined - despite having never accumulated more than six league assists for United in a season - and the whole idea of his reputation as a 'technical' player is a result of the speed he moves at, perhaps because he couldn't be described any other way?

I feel like the whole purpose of the signing was in order for United to play fluid football, but his enduring inability to move at speed has thwarted us from doing so, ironically.

Nice guy though, and I don't doubt his attitude. Hope he does well elsewhere.

As much as I like the guy I am afraid you might be on to something here ..

I was delighted when we signed him but if you don't play him in his favoured position he's not much use and I don't think he's the best we have there now.

England:
Needs to leave. Such a fragile player too. He looks like an opponents fart would knock him over.

He needs to head back to Spain.
