I really hope this is the last we see of him, not that it is personal on him. If we address the problem that we have absolutely no actual fullbacks in the squad (beside Shaw and Darmian) then we're at least going in the right direction. If he's fourth or fifth choice next season then we've at least addressed a more than glaring problem we have in our defense and I think the flow on effect will integrate with our offence, as well as returning Valencia to his rightful level. Going forward that will be a very big issue for Jose to sort out next year.

He needs to be binned for this alone, absolutely horrendous decision making.
I know it’s basically a miracle that he has gotten himself in to this sort of situation but looking at that he really doesn’t have that many options other than doing what he did or going further towards the byline. If anything taking a shot might have been a better choice.

If he puts that across now there is no chance Sanchez gets on to it. If he was between those two defenders then maybe a low ball across the box he gets a touch on it but from there no chance. Valencia can’t dink it to the back post, as well... basically no chance of Sánchez getting that either.

Weirdly this is actually the kind of situation that Lukaku would be begging for or any striker but is that Rashford top right.

Weird occasion when I’m defending Valencia who in general needs replacing but criticism where critisicm is due and all.

Put it in the bottom corner. Or at least try to is indeed the correct play there. There are several options he could have at least tried instead of that frankly ridiculous pass to nobody straight down the middle of two guys. Stand his man up and wait for a player coming through, cut his man inside and play somebody in that is coming through.

Somebody mentioned that nobody being in the box is just as bad, but if you were his team mate could you really confidently understand what the guy is going to be doing half the time? I mean, literally just think about if you were his team mate. You wouldn't have a stinking clue what he was going to do at any time. You just have to make one movement thinking "I hope the ball comes to me because it could go anywhere" rather than knowing the move that Valencia likes to do and getting right to the spot knowing it is going to come for me. I've said it before, he must be an absolute nightmare to play with. I'd absolutely hate it.

Young will share RB duties with him and we will get Alex Sandro. Add in Bale on the RW and Valencia doesn't become that much of a problem because we actually have a right winger and attacking fullback.

If we get that young RB from Porto, means TFM (even people not seeing him as RB) will be fecked in any case, so The Machine, breaker of ankles, master of bunny hop dribbling will stay as RB, yay.

Also tbf, there are quite a few positions we need to strengthen, Valencia isn't the best RB around, but it's still less of an issue than a LB and a CM imo.

He has not been good attacking this season but remember he plays that side literally on his own.

3 goals though and 2 crackers and one against Arsenal.
