Gonna rock the boat here, but please read properly before telling me I'm silly...

I love DDG and want him to stay, but if he wants to go, and we got a big fee and good replacement, I wouldn't be that bothered for 2 reasons...

1. I don't like having a keeper as our best player. I really don't like it. It's so anti-United, if you know what I mean. It seems to make us more defensive as a team, and interestingly, DDG's best years coincide with our worst years of outfield football...

2. Selling DDG, if he wants to go, would mean a big focus on improving outfield play.

Getting rid of DDG would make it utterly unavoidable for any manager to not focus on scoring goals, and for me, that's what United need to get back to focusing on.
I read it properly.
You're silly.

I'm not sure what you read, mate, but your reply sounds frantic and reactionary. Try reading the below and remembering that the entire context of my point is that of - "If he WANTS TO GO".

This is literally what begins my post...

It's difficult to make it more clear than "I love DDG and want him to stay"!

We've sold Ronaldo and replaced him with Valencia and Owen, that was crazy (yet SAF being SAF goes on to win multiple titles straight after...).

Selling DDG, which, again, I don't want as I love having him here, but selling him if he wants to go, and is replaced well, could just tilt Mourinho over the edge of focusing that little bit more on actually scoring goals to ensure winning games.

Maybe another way of looking at my point, for those who are open to it - is that a freakishly good keeper coupled with Mourinho equals Mourinho's default of defensive football becoming more easy for him to fall back on, as we've seen clearly this season.
Mourinho is like an old parent, he's not going to change. So we still need the best keeper in the world home, and we need to buy more talented offensive talent. That's all...

Happy Jose has come out with this.

As good as Bale is De Gea is literally our best player by a country mile.

That puts an end to the saga for another year at least. Until next year when we go again.

Hopefully he signs a new deal making him the highest paid keeper on the planet. No one could say he isn't worthy of such a contract.

Starting to wonder if we're ever going to get a nail biting transfer saga this season.. everythings been smooth sailing so far (which is good of course). But some Thiago-esque transfer drama a few years back would be nice.

Good to hear that, hopefully he'll sign a new contract and Real Madrid will sign another goalkeeper (Allison or Courtois)

It's not really a proper saga if it doesn't end in heartbreak.

My heart is still in pieces after the Vidal saga

He knows they don't want him enough and isn't fussed.
I agree with this. I think he would still go but why wouldn't he apathetic about it at this point?

If they really wanted him they would have paid up by now.

Future legend for sure. Not only he's best keeper in the world but he wants to stay and is happy to be at United.

He's not getting enough respect for not handing in a transfer request when there's a club winning Champions League after Champions League that wants nothing more than make him their undisputed starter.

Won't stop the Real-supporting Spanish press from shit-stirring though. If he has a good tournament, expect it to intensify.

"Future?" Already achieved that status mate and well-deserved it is.
Not yet imo but he's well on his way. :)
As for Marca and other bastards that's true it wont stop. Just as posts like - he deserves so much better than shit he sees here' and others.

Was just thinking the same. If we go on to win leagues and European Cups no player will ever deserve it more than this lad. Nobody would've blamed him for heading home to Madrid to win all round him with Real but he's shown tremendous loyalty while we've been at our lowest ebb.

This will be a strange or not so appropriate comparison, I dont know, but take Ronaldo for example.
Certainly one of the best player to ever wear an United shirt for sure, but imo not a legend. Yet some people regard him as one despite the fact he cried he's a slave and wanted to leave to his dream club. All good but that doesn't make him an United legend.
Dave though, could have gone to Madrid easily one of these years but he's here, not making a fuss, not demanding a transfer, doing his job and doing it brilliantly despite the fact we're still in a transition period.

If it weren’t for that “(at United)” I’d have thought he meant as “(as a constant subject of transfer speculation)”

Thanks for clearly clarifying clear in a clear way, precisely what he meant, so it was clear to me :D

Did anyone just see his blunder in Spain’s game?

Sell him.
