There are some utter lunatics on this forum. You could swear United won every game at a canter under Fergie. It's the first game of the season and it's not indicative of how the whole season will go - just ask David Moyes.

I’d sub Mata for Lukaku, switch Marcus out right for the pace and let Rom go up against the centre halves. Think we could really put on some goals if we have more pace on the counter.

Ps) Bailly is a brick wall. Solid AF.
Agree with this, a bit more pace and hopefully some better passing and we’ll catch this lot on the counter.

    I will be positive..

Fred and Andreas look good. Bailly, DDG and Shaw doing well.

Our front three is a mess but it's not our first choice so not sure what you expect..

Can you explain it through your eyes, because although I don’t agree with the being outplayed we haven’t exactly taken the match by storm or counter attacked at all well so far.
Our final ball out into the counter has been lacking, and several times Rashford has ruined potentially good moves. It’s been nowhere near perfect but we started off really well, got a goal and created a few other chances.

We let them play in front of us, and apart from one mistake it’s been comfortable. It’s one half into the first game and we’re winning with some good moments throughout the half, why can’t people be positive?

I don't want to criticize our attackers because I think we should be on the front foot more. You have to know who you are better then. We are the home team and we've been sitting back since we scored. It's poor. It sends out a negative message and so the likes of Rashford etc feed on scraps. We need to be more aggressive and make use of our home advantage. We also need to realize we could win this game comfortable or we can keep giving away chances needlessly and be lucky with a 1-0 or perhaps even drop points.

Fred looks classy with the ball at his feet, it's just the defensive side of his game that concerns me somewhat. Still, I've seen far worse as debuts go.

I the combination or Pereira, Pogba and Fred shows a lot of potential.
He's trying too hard I feel, debut and all that, hopefully he settles but at the moment I think that Matić will jump straight back into team (rightfully so imo) and Pereira with Fred will fight it out for the missing 3rd spot, both a bit different players too which is a plus imo.

Pereira keeping up his brilliant form from pre-season. Fred looks like a real presence out there.

Expecting more from Rashford and Alexis.

Hope we get to see Lukaku at some point.

Put Sanchez on the right, sub Rashford with Lukaku, Mata with Martial and play Martial on the left. Let everyone proof it in the first game of the season.

Any right back would be shite with Mata on the right wing. Darmian is getting beaten for pace and he has to defend against two Leicester players. Yes he is not brilliant but look at it from the other angle.

Remember it wasn't too long ago that they won the league and I think they've improved their squad.

I think some of you think we should won every game 5-0

I think we’d have all taken this half time result before the game. Bit more composure in midfield and more from our front three and we’ll be ok.

I like the look of our midfield. It's such a shame we have no right side though.

He really does. I love these technical yet combative type of CM's.

The only good so far is Lindelof. All in all that was a decent performance for the first half.

Partly agree, the midfield aren’t bossing the game but that doesn’t excuse the sloppy passes and play from all 3 of the forwards.

I agree with the top half but I’m not sure I agree with much of the 2nd. Hasn’t been comfortable and they’ve put us in danger quite a few times more so than we have them.

Rashford is still too immature to play ST. Rashford LW and Sanchez ST 3’d half please.

Pereira has done well but sometimes he's looked a bit too deep, almost dropping in to defense when we have the ball. That's not bad if the center halves split to make room but that's not happening and it's looked a bit congested at times.

Aside from Lukaku who is missing? Its not so far away from the first choice which is worrying, (as it was poor last season too)

We're playing a midtable team and are neither better nor worse. Looks like that's where we're at - midtable.
We really were in the 3rd tier (City alone in tier 1, Spurs and Liverpool in tier 2, us in 3 with Chelsea/Arsenal) last year by the stats that have more long-term predictive value.

We aren't midtable, but we do look the 5th-6th place I fear we'll be once Sarri gets his team going or Emery teaches Arsenal how to defend a bit.

Lets get.to the bone here,we look no better than Crystal Palace. Yeah, with a few more lads back,we'll improve. On this basis (and the end of last season and preseason) we might hit Arsenal/Everton standard.

Sanchez literally looks like we bought a post-China, 36yr old Tevez. he's meant to be a game changer earning about 400k a week

"oh hhhhhh he never had a pre season with us,he'll destroy teams next year" was the mantra

i would genuinely rather Andy Carroll,at this moment. at least he can fathom a performance as a target man/lump which is what Alexis is suppoedly doing tonight

Andreas has been good and Luke decent.
He's a weak point, doesn't maintain his position and hasn't done anything positive offensively.

About Shaw, even a random LB like Chilwell looks much better him.

A returning Matic is definate plus. Between the 4 of them, plus Mctominay, Lingard and Fellaini waiting in the wings, we look well stocked in the midfield department.
