Criticising the mistakes is fair. But there is a coaching problem. It was the same against Leicester. So passive, never on the front foot and it results in shit like that. Nail on the head here.

    Yep. Sums us up perfectly.

This is so true.. There is nothing we do right..
At least under LVG we kept the ball..

We do nothing now. Can't retain possession. Cant pass. Cant press. Cant defend. Cant attack. Hardly score any beautiful goals.

Its been disjointed for way too long now.

Even IF we win (which I doubt we will) it in no way can take away from how utterly shit we are.

I kind of want us to lose if it pushed Mou closer to the door. I understand some will give me flak for this statement but the sooner he's gone the sooner we can salvage a season. More of this to come this season at this rate.
I get the feeling that even if we lost the next 3 Jose would still see the end of this season. I don't think we would want to rush his replacement and considering there has already been a feeling of resignation coming from the club as early as pre-season I don't think expectations are very high.

True, it’s not the quality of the players, it’s the coaching, the tactics, the togetherness.[/QUOTE

Brighton got the players they want for the system they use. Mou is forced to get his plan B and no defenders. This is what happens. Clear to those of us that watch the game regularly that Mou isn't the main issue. The owners and Woodward are.

Am I the only who actually saw a conscious effort to play with the ball on the floor? I was very encouraged by this approach. While we haven't created much I liked our simple short passing quite a bit.

Unfortunately we have not been good defensively, so I fear we will regress to hoofing it and defending in our box.

Hopefully we see some attacking intent from us this half. Season after season there's little or no improvement in that.

A disaster all over the field. Offensively and defensively down the right absolutely nothing. Young is a problem, the CB pairing is a disaster and confidence is shot throughout the team.

In your closet, in your head!
Despite leaving three seasons ago, of course he's still responsible. It's not like other managers like Pep, Klopp, Poch, Sarri, etc, have came in and been able to implement their philosophy in a season.

    Van Gaal, how dare you!
Sarri is just the latest example of a manager who comes in and has an immediate, visible impact on the team. He's just had his first 2 competitive games and some here mocked him for conceding 2 against Arsenal (despite scoring 3). Yet somehow Jose still needs another 500 million to overhaul his team before he can be judged.

Don't think that he was personally, it was a collective feck up, Fred was late as well. Doesn't mean that Bailly isn't responsible for it though
It was a bad ball to Fred. Why lob it into Fred when he’s isolated in midfield and not necessarily renowned for bring good in the air? Poor poor play overall.

This is going to be a long season. I mean, much longer than last year. At least we started well.

The anti-mourinho crew will be licking their lips.

You can tell Jose is shocked at utter ineptness of the players out there today. The coaches aren’t coaching basics you learn at 10 years old. The players are to blame. Will probably sneak a 3-3 anyway.
You say that like it's the first game we have looked this cluless in the last 2 years. There's something wrong and it's not just the crap players out there

It has been clear for a while that Jose has no plans in terms of coaching a team to be imposing in a game so our defensive weaknesses are overexposed. The board should cut our losses and get a new manager in. I'm a massive fan of Zidane but we need someone who is obsessed with the details like Pep. Bielsa would be a good fit but he's at leeds and doesn't speak english. I know people like to hate on LVG but he had the right idea but lacked common sense to tweak the system like Pep does.

    Second-half kick-off

Two changes by Jose at the break.

Let's hope the defence has woken up during the break...

Under Fergie I'd give ourselves a chance. How do you come back from a 3-1 dismal first half performance.

I fear we may concede another early and Brighton will shut up shop.
Shut up shop from what? We are no threat to anyone.

I withdraw what I said about Bailly/Lindelof. They can't play together. Boy Jose was right: we need two centre backs. But Young has been awful too. Pogba's been an idiot with his flicks and tricks, mata has done nothing, perriera isn't good enough. What a shambles.. but then I predicted this two weeks ago and was told to shut up. How do we make a side so awful last week look so great? Lose this sort of game, forget a title challenge. A top top side going two down and pulling one back would roar forward and take the game by the scruff of the neck. We do the opposite. Only Lukaku looks interested. marks out of 10: zero

De Gea is bang average at everything bar shot stopping, but this doesn’t get highlighted enougn whilst our defence is so shit that he has the opportunity for heroics every week.
Always thought he could improve his passing. Has a tendency to stay on his line as well. There are occasions where the ball is in no mans land between the CB and keeper, he never rushes out to collect the ball.

    Perhaps get Fellaini on?
Brighton are too powerful for the team which was out in the first half.

Hoo fecking rah. Feel a bit of Pereira, it's not entirely his fault the players behind him are useless.

Speaking of Ashley Useless Young, picking up where he left off with the hospital passes into Fred. Fred's having a stinker but he's also dealing with some of the worst passes into him I could even imagine.

How many times are we going to say this, though?

Players follow the instructions of the manager. Yes, they're not performing well, but Brighton dominating the ball is down to us dropping as a unit and allowing them to do so.

Why are we dropping against Brighton? Why are we inviting them onto us, especially with three technically very good midfielders, who are good in possession? I just don't get it. To make matters more confusing, we haven't even got the best defenders. As the saying goes, attack is the best form of defence. Give teams chances to play against us and they're going to create chances. Unfortunately, De Gea hasn't been able to bail us out today.
Our players are losing their individual battles, Jose will take the blame but there’s no excuse for our players getting dominated and bullied, being second best in challenges and not winning any second balls.

    Absolutely agree with this.

It's why many don't have faith in Jose.

Lukaku, Martial, Rashford, Lingard and Pogba. I could get excited about that if I wasn’t so depressed

Completely unbalanced team. Our wing is the issue

Right side is the main issue and even in the last game all the attack came from that side. I love mata but i dont think he should be play RW. Young is way ahead of where he should be and because mata cant catchup our CB's are dragged wide with space in between ( 3rd goal)

we need runners off the ball to move the opposition defenders and drag the midfield around. Not happening. now brighton will shut up shop!

This whole ‘game raising’ talk from some of you guys is annoying and small time. It’s not even like Brighton were playing exceptionally well ffs.

As another poster said, the fact that we always accuse mid/lower table clubs of game raising whenever we get beat by them shows that there is a common denominator here.

And hint: it’s not the other team that we play.

The two best, most progressive, managers in the world are at our two biggest rivals. We got Mourinho too late, he's not king anymore. I'm not convinced by Zidane, or anyone else really. When the change happens, take a punt on someone not boring and with a bit of tactical nous. Oh, an for feck sake bring in a component DOF.
Zidane doesn't convince you ? What more did he need to do ?
