Obviously you have never had a crap manager at the helm.

This logic that players purposely underperform does not make sense to me when you have players who are able to perform inmediately in a different team/set up.
Which is a myth, apart from Pogba at Juve ( who then had Pirlo and Vidal beside him ). The World Cup is starting to get massively overblown when it comes to our players perdormance.

Explain? Considering they all play better for their country. You can’t say because he had this and that as we could use that arguement for Messi and follow it up as he’s not that great without Barcelona, which would be an insane arguement.

Well, no they don't. People keep talking about Lukaku form at world cup when he had only scored against Tunisia and Panama while Pogba never got applauded much for his form with national team before the tournament, and in the tournament itself he was playing in a conservative role not really free fluid form. Lingard and Fellaini looked more or less the same and Rashford was a mere sub the whole tournament. I have seen nothing different overall.

A myth dependent on a tournament of 7 games because one good game for Lukaku or a player playing in the final will still be a myth whatever people try to push it.

Because it will all magically come together within the next seven games, obviously.

And why seven games specifically. Will it really take another 7 losses in order for the board to make that fateful decision? I despair of this club at times.

Because they want money. For the same reason they get everything they can to make you click on that link

You can't just look at his goals and toss it off and say well he only scored against this team and that, his overall performances were very good. More to the point, he was looking fast, strong and just very sharp overall. He was fit and powerful, while also playing intelligently; there's was way more to his game. I, and many others, was really looking forward to him retuning this season and kicking on from that. Alas, it hasn't happened yet for whatever reason. But he was very good.

What's the plan going forward anyway? I hope they working on that DOF. And if they are than I can see the sense in trudging along with José (and hopefully even bedding in the DOF whilst he's here). The players seem to be soldiering on and hopefully they can maintain our top 4 status. The next manager has to be working with a DOF in my opinion.

Lukaku had the same odd good games he had against Brazil with us in the last season too, like the Chelsea at home or Arsenal away, no ?

So no I saw nothing different from Lukaku in World Cup than what I saw from him last season, flat track bullying small teams, have an odd good game against a big side while still not scoring at all in big games, not even getting chances to score against Brazil and France.

Yeah he had some really good games for us last season, i'm not arguing against that. My issue was, was how dismissive you were of his World Cup form. He was way better than what you're saying. It's just so jarring to see him go from that, to what he is now. It should've been used as a springboard for him to go into this season, but that hasn't materialised yet for whatever reason. Whether it's a systemic issue, or it's simply just a player out of form. Whatever it is, it's frustrating and sad to see.

I'm not dismissing it but people talking about his World Cup form makes me believe he did out of world things there that he didn't do at United. It was more or less the same last season, with all his pros and flaws, even though he has better players surrounding him at Belgium.

He's not a bad striker but it's inevitable to look at him and think we'll have to upgrade on him sooner or later. His flaws are too serious and won't be tolerated by a manager who will want to play free fluid fast football.

Well I told people this was going to happen. Mourinho sooner or later just leaves scorched earth behind.

I honestly don't know where he will be coaching next - hs reputation has taken a visible dent.

It's a lot of nonsense. The season will be damaged beyond repair if this continues on for 7 games. If we lose on Saturday that should be it.

I just think it's more that people, myself included, seen him in the World Cup and were excited. I clearly think he was better than you seem to think he was. And i'm not trying to imply that he was on another level to everyone there, but what i seen from him i liked. But now he's come back and he's a different man. Certainly he's way, way better than what he's been showing.

As for the bold, i don't necessarily disagree with that. I'm not sure whether he's ever gonna be that top tier finisher that we're gonna need to propel us to where we need to be. What i do like about him, and what i was trying to get across in my previous posts, is his overall game. I think he adds a lot to the team, not just with his work ethic, but some of the runs off the ball that opens space up for others. Obviously we haven't seen that from him this season, and that's what frustrates me the most.

Does he ? his first touch, holding up and close control are all very questionable. He has good pace and power, but he won't find much space playing with United against parked buses to burn this pace in. It'll be all about close control in tight situations and holding up the ball to open the space for his teammates. His inconsistent first touch breaks several attacks at its beginning, something I don't think other managers' will handle, and it's necessary against parked buses. Look at his goals at Everton and how much space he was getting at ever goal, he won't get that here. He's good at space, not in close contact situations.

I think he does, yeah. I certainly seen it last season as i thought he had a very good one. I find people are very harsh on Lukaku sometimes. Take this season out of it because he has been genuinely terrible. But last season i had him as our best outfield player. I know it almost sounds like a cop out answer to say that he does some of the work that you don't always see, but he does (or did, anyway). The way we're playing at the moment isn't suiting him, but there again it's not suiting anyone. His touch is certainly breaking down attacks this season, but i'm not denying that. He's been bloody awful. But he wasn't anywhere near that bad last season i don't care what anyone says. I thought some of his link up play last season was good, overall.

Again, is he the clinical finisher of, say, an Aguero? Nope. But he's offers a lot to the team when he's in form, imo.

He was good last season, not great but good, and I praised and defended him several times too, but let's be honest the talk about his first touch has been around before we signed him. The point is will a manager who will want everything to be played fast and fluid with one touch endure a striker with an inconsistent first touch ? Mourinho doesn't care much about these things but if we're deciding to go the route of a free fluid attacking manager, he'll have a problem with it.

He's definitely now worse than anything he has been before but even at his best his first touch wasn't his strength, it's his pace and physicality.

He is a goalscorer, but he does not have that special something that will win you a game when the pressure is on. In fact pressure seems to weigh him down. Some striker thrive on pressure, the more pressure the better.

Not sure. Maybe, maybe not. Entirely down to who takes over. Having an inconsistent touch doesn't necessarily preclude us, or him, form playing fast football. Fast football can mean many different things. Personally, i would like to see him on the right and have Rashford up the middle. That way he will have space to run into and use his pace and power. Perhaps that would suit him better.

It's not only our players. That was a general example about any player who just isn't able to perform in a system under a manager. There are numerous examples. Plus really sad to see our own fans shitting on a world cup winner and an integral part of the team at that, to defend Jose.

The bolded part needs to be stopped. Every time someone criticizes a player, be it Pogba, Lukaku or Sanchez, it gets shot down as "defending Jose"

One could be critical of Jose without attributing everything wrong at the club to Jose.

Edit: I personally think Jose is doing a bad work AND Pogba is being an absolute git by mouthing of to the media for everything.

Pogbas world cup medal bares no relation to his United career. Two entirely separate things.

See, had Pogbas done like his fellow countrymen, Zinidine Zidane, Thierry Henry and others and been a world cup winner who was also an integral part of his clubs success, then the argument would be fair...

As it is, Pogbas isn't that. He's a world cup winner with France. As a Manchester United fans, I couldn't care less. We've had other world cup winners and that never stopped them from being rightly criticised. It's not a free pass.

Confidence is understandably at rock bottom. The only thing that will change that is a win and a good one at that.

Newcastle will undoubtedly be well organised and Benitez will set them up to be very difficult to break down, something we are not good at.

We have to hope for an early goal to open them up. Unfortunately the longer we fail to score the more difficult things will get and the more the pressure will increase.

Personally I would take a scrappy 1.0 win and don't expect it will be a classic.

Really do hope I am wrong and we play very well and beat them easily but I am nervous already.

The thing that puzzles me about Mourinho's behaviour is that it's almost as if he is attempting career suicide! No big team will touch him again after this debacle. Personally I think he needs a long break from football and then maybe come back managing a smaller mid-table team to try and repair his reputation...………………

That is where the agent comes in. Finds big clubs in need. Convince them his client is still great to work with.
Even Moyes managed to talk his way into multiple jobs after his failure with us. Jose has a bigger agent and a bigger bunch of working staff.

One factor that may have been behind that contract extension was making him higher paid than Sanchez. Similar to how SAF got a wage rise after Rooney's huge contract. The 13m severance still being quoted was his old contract

Watch Jonjo Shelvey raise his game to levels of world class against us, he will dominate our midfield and ping sublime 60+ yard balls with pin point accuracy cutting our defence apart. The guy has the capability to be one of the best in the league when he faces us, but can only turn it one against clubs he hates, and he plays best against us. Still got Liverpool in his veins.
He is not only cheating his manager and fellow team mates, he is cheating himself.

I can honestly see a top performance on Sat, A tough game but all players actually getting stuck in for a change,Something which has been lacking this season from the whole team.
Im hoping Sir Alex or Sir Bobby will be having a quiet word with the 'stars on strike' about the sacrifices made by so many great predecessors that have made Manchester United, the world renown club it is today. No matter who the opposition are, or who our owners are, we turn up and give it all is a given.
If you dont like the mangers instructions, dont down tools, perceiver with them for 30 mins and if its not working take the bull by the horns for the last 15 mins and play your best way, so you are creating chances to prove the managers tactics are wrong on the field, not on social media.
Just think about all the great players over the years and the abuse they had to take of SMB SAF because they were not giving everything even though they were already champions and top of the league.
Imagine Jose kicking a football boot and it hitting Pogba or Valencia in the face cutting his lip..:D
I honestly think it would be breaking news on sky and BBC with constant ticker updates!

Ince has been very critical of Mourinho in all his quotes but he still slams the players for not trying, which is right. Just because you want Mourinho out doesn't mean you can excuse what the players are doing.
