No point to talk about him or Swedish defence in that degrading manner, when in fact United have conceded 12 goals against relatively poor teams in 7 matches. Maybe the worst defence in the PL atm.

I leave this discussion with you as I have seen in this and other threads that you lack basic knowledge about football and I don’t see any point at all to continue. I am happy for you that you are satisfied with United’s defence and that you are thrilled with the last 2 years victories. I wish you a good day.
United have conceded 12 goals but it's a general shit show, before throwing the whole blame on the personnel maybe you should keep that in mind. Since I lack a basic knowledge of football please enlighten me, should we bring Ola Toivonen or Marcus Berg to sort out our attack also? Because we have scored the total of 10 goals, 10th best attack in the league. I guess we should bin everybody from Lukaku down to Matic and replace them with some average 33 year old nobody from the Swedish second tier.

Before acting the all knowing football expert sort out your own arguments, because they laughable and borderline moronic.

As I wrote, I have no intention to continue the discussion. You’re being ignorant, rude and none of your posts add any value. Throw your shit somewhere else or maybe use the energy for something productive.

Feel free to leave it as it stands. I was very polite regarding you as a poster, unless you are Granqvist himself. The only one being rude and ignorant here was you, acting the football expert telling me how I lack football knowledge in shortage of a reasonable argument.

Very good today. Hope that Jose can play them for a longer time, as soon as Lindelof has been fine he's been on the bench again like after his spell last season against Newcastle Watford, Arsenal. Then he was back on the bench. Needs confidence and show good stuff.

He's a nerves wreck at the back for us.
I never feel confident when he's on the ball.
Maybe it’s you who are the nervous wreck then ;)
He was often left as last man with the ball but never panicked. Overall a good match and showed more fighting spirit today than what we have seen before.

It'd be hard even for him to panic when he's only playing that ball one way, and that's straight back to De Gea.

Continues to cost us points. I know people are blaming Pogba for their first goal (and he has to be attributed a big chunk of the blame) but they analyzed their opener at HT and it was straight off their routine at Southampton. Luiz is in line with Chelsea's targetman, he blocks the defender allowing their player to get free of his marker. You could see Pogba was asking Lindelof to switch his markers but he didn't respond.

2nd goal is even more appalling, zero awareness or instinct to smell where the danger is. Reacted far too late or that could've been blocked.

His best games for United have been the games where he didnt look terrible... that just isnt enough. Bailly and even Phil Jones had games where they actually looked decent and good enough to be a Manchester United player.

That is unfortunaly what happens quite often as last man. Butter myth about him
Panicking all the time is once again false.

Exactly. He's appalling and Smalling isn't that better either.
So much work needs to be done at United.
Smalling is terrible on the ball but atleast he can defend. Im not too worried when Smalling is defending because he usually does the defending part well enough... However i am worried when Lindelof has to do the actual defending. Lindelof also hasnt shown much of that ''ball playing ability'' what he was supposed to have.

In my opinion Smalling is by far the better defender and player. If i made the teamselection i would ask myself ''who am i going to partner with Smalling'' instead of ''Which centrebacks will i play today''

Hes been decent this season tbh. Cant blame him for anything today either, thought he was composed enough on the ball, aggressive, and we didnt exactly give up any chances. One set piece where pogba fell asleep and a hoof at the last seconds which Young lost to Alonso (obvious height differences there..) and we got unlucky bounces, but that's it.

I thought he was ok today and made a good block on Giroud near the end, I think Chelsea starting Morata up top was ideal for him as it meant no physical challenge.

Actually the second goal is also on Pogba just drifting around in the penalty area not marking anyone.

He still looks like a work experience kid at times and some of his clearances have zero conviction.

Slow motion reply showed it wasn’t really a block. More like Giroud tripping over himself. Could have been a goal if he sorted out his feet. Never convinced with this Lindelof chap. Bailly is a far better defender.

Not true. Pogba gets screened by Luiz and wants to switch his man with Victor. Communication is not good enough and in these types of sits it takes half a second for a team to get fecked. Well played by Chelsea and both Pogba and Victor should talk this over a couple of times. Maybe just not on the field nxt time...
Not true.

I thought he played well today, it was one of his better games. But was still at fault for the last goal for me. I mean, he wasn't 100% at fault, but he was on Barkley, and he didn't react to the rebound. Should have done better.

I agree Bailly has the tools to be the muc better CB but he's rash and seemingly has fallen out with Mourinho which seems to have shot his confidence.

He causes chaos, which unsettles everyone else around him. Much more talented than Lindelof but a defense needs to be a unit. Lindelof is mediocre but it is kind of an understood mediocrity where those around him understand his play style and can adjust accordingly.

Still a major problem though but unless Bailly settles it will be difficult for any manager to trust him.

Think people just think of old performances and labels him with them.
They do. He had a good game today. I don't think he is is the long term solution for us, but he hasn't been as bad as many like to think.

I agree, Bailly needs a leader next to him and we just don't have that, I think Smalling is playing well this season but he's not going to be the leader Bailly needs to calm him and bring his all round game on.

We all love United
For supposedly a ball playing defender, he sure loves a back pass to De Gea. Needs to look up and take initiative sometimes instead of pushing it to your goalkeeper

That has to come from within. Honestly, different level of player entirely, but Madrid were able to attain great success pairing Ramos and Pepe, 2 utterly headstrong characters.

He and Smalling are the main problem and you can probably add matic into that too. Our defenders are simply not technically skilled enough to play for a team with ambitions of winning major competitions. We cannot build from the back as they simply pass it back to DDG who hoofs it up the pitch. There is an area of the pitch which we never venture into, just in front of our centre backs. As soon as an opposing player even looks like they are going to close them, they quickly pass it backwards.

It’s glaringly obvious that this is the big issue.

Lindelof had an ok game today, I mean he played Alonso (I think) in the first half onside where with a better touch he would have been 1 v 1 and was at least at partial fault for the lack of communication with Pogba for their first goal and was nowhere near the man he was marking who scored the second but by his standard he had an ok game.

He’s just thankful the ball hits his head most of the time, he doesn’t really care where the ball goes after that. Probably keeps his eyes closed.
