You'll be happy with that surely

That would certainly be insulting for a coach of the calibre of Conte. I can see why he would reject it. Perez maybe adopting a cautious approach to save himself from huge pay-offs resulting from managerial sackings.
An interim contract is an insult to someone of contes caliber. He should be expecting and demanding more than that. You don't offer guys with his CV temp jobs.
You are right. They should commit at least until June 2020.
About the pay offs I thought that we would have to pay the entire contract, but now Lopetegui only will get a year (6net),6 more if he doesn't have job in june 21 and all the contract if he is unemployed in 6/22(info from an ITK)

I just watched highlights of the clasico and saw the game was 2-1 at 70 minutes. What happened in the last 20 mimutes? Real were the dominant team from minute 45-70. Benzema wasted a sitter, modric hit the post. Why they collapsed at the end?

From today

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...al-madrid-president-florentino-perez-juventus

“I felt it inside the club, especially from the president, that they no longer considered me the same way that they did in the start,” he said. “In the first four or five years there, I had the feeling of being ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’. Less afterwards. The president looked at me through eyes that didn’t want to say the same thing, as if I was no longer indispensable to them, if you know what I mean.

“That’s what made me think about leaving. Sometimes I’d look at the news, where they were saying I was asking to leave. There was a bit of that, but the truth is that I always had the impression that the president would not hold me back. If it had all been about money, I’d have moved to China, where I would have earned five times as much than here [at Juventus] or at Real. I did not come to Juve for the money. I earned the same in Madrid, if not more. The difference is that, at Juve, they really wanted me. They told me that and made it clear. They showed me that.”

“He only ever looked at me as a business relationship. I know it. What he told me never came from the heart.”

“My decision to leave was not based on Zidane’s departure. That being the case, it’s one of those little things that made me feel a bit better in terms of what I thought of the situation at the club.”
Not very solid explanations for leaving the club after 9 years.Very weak.
He doesn't get into any trouble. He doesn't say anything about the Treasury, nor about Neymar. He talks about the relationship having changed but he forgets his renewal in november 16.
It was also said that Zidane was tired of hearing about his renewal and the treasury.
in any case it confirms the bad relationship and the mutual fatigue

Well, they'd just be big favourites to win the Champions League instead of having no chance at all.
Feckin hell man... You spend page after page trying to convince everyone how crap Real are and that they barely have any decent players but you somehow also believe that adding Ronaldo would make them not only favorites, but big favorites to win the CL.. How does that work when they come from their worst league campaign in I don't know how long and a number of less convincing and fortunate games/situations that won them last years CL, not to mention the fact that they lost their manager?

They miss Ronaldo like there's no tomorrow but you can't have it both ways. They can't be so bad that they have no chance at all of winning the CL and still good enough to be big favorites if they add one player.

Suarez scored a wondergoal on a great counter, we wasted a couple more interesting situations, then Ramos fecked up and gifted them the 4th and we quit

They aren't terrible, they just aren't as good as they've been made out ot be throughout the years. It's still a great squad with great players.

They just have no chance to win the CL this season as they need Ronaldo upfront to do that, the entire structure of the team won't work without him. They can't have their forwards scoring so little and then having that midfield who have no goals in them. Playing possession football would have suited them more but Lopetegui wasn't able to do it.

Calling them big favourites to win it again is pushing it but I believe that if things remained the same, with them being the 3 time champions, they'd have a big psychological advantage which they now won't have. I think if Ronaldo had stayed everyone would have them as favourites to win the Champions League at this moment.

Apparently Martinez is one of the favourites for the job. Feels weird seeing him go from being sacked by Everton to doing well with Belgium and finally managing one of the biggest teams in the world.

That'd be absolutely hilarious.

"This decision, adopted from the highest level of responsibility, aims to change the dynamics of the first team, when all the objectives of this season are still achievable"

That Flo wants Low and Martinez should be proof enough he's not fit to be president anymore. He should go to Zidane on bended knees and ask him to come back. Give him all the decision power he wants, sell and sign the players he wants, etc

If Mourinho would really be in the running, I wonder what he'd think. On one hand, what's there to win there after Zidane, without Ronaldo, and other key players aging. On the other, if he manages to pull his old trick there and squeeze that lemon, he will be redeemed.

@carvajal

Who will be recruited by you next winter?
The only credible and repeated name is Hermoso, CB from Espanyol(LB too) and who started in Castilla.
Evidently he does not have enough name to fix the defense, but could be a substitute for Vallejo. The poor boy is injured again.
The only gossips are about next season.Today Marca speaks of Palacios and Brahim Díaz still didn't renew...
I guess we'll know more when the coach is decided.

Thanks for the reply. I did want you to spend some billions to revive the market.

The good news is you will get M'bappé in 2020 :)

Roberto Martinez? He'd be chewed out by the big egos in that dressing room  It's akin to us appointing Moyes after having a serial winner like SAF.

I just hope it's Wenger :D

I think if Ronaldo would have stayed you wouldn’t have anyone believing that they wouldn’t be able to win it. But most people who watched them last year would definitely not have them as favorites as they had a very poor season overall and relied way too much on luck/injuries/mistakes to win the CL, plus the fact that they haven’t strengthened their first XI and lost Zidane as well.

Would you have them as favorites against a fully fit Bayern for example after what happened last season in that tie? Or Juve? (or even Tottenham for that matter)

The people that are now questioning the true quality of the players at Madrid are more than likely the same folk that think we need to replace half of our team.

It’s amazing what a change of coach (and bad ideas) can do to a football team. Individuals start playing so far removed for what they are capable.

Madrid have made a mistake and are trying to rectify it quick. Suddenly bad players will turn good again.

Not replacing Ronaldo was, of course, mental. It needs said.

Don't think he's going anywhere until next May. I have made my peace with that and it's allowing me to take some joy out of this season.
