Love how he handled some tricky situations in the 2nd half, like there's nothing to it. His confidence is growing a lot.

Looking really confident and classy on the ball now. There might be a player in there after all. Only thing I would say is his passing with his left foot isn’t great. Ideally he should be on the right side of defence I think
Yes it’s a bit unfortunate that he ends up hitting most long balls with the wrong foot. But it great he’s trying instead passing back to DDG or Smalling.

He's certainly made progress but still looks very limited imo. On the ball he still looks very uncertain and goes for the easy pass far too often. Compare him with Maguire and you realize how much he falls short.

Would say it's partly confidence given how we're playing right now. Midfield isn't exactly holding on to possession well and we're conceding many chances (and goals). Understandably may prefer to err on the side of caution.

Or more imperious, Van Dijk. You can see Van Dijk orchestrating the long balls from deep and sometimes he ends up in the box.

On the contrary, Lindelof is finding his feet and found his confidence in the last 2 games. I like the new found grit and aggression from him. Still needs to bulk up and please Lindelof, fix your standing posture, you look like a timid nice guy all the time! Please straighten up your neck and your chest. He needs to stop helping his opponents getting up and saying sorry to them, be like Vidic.

Mourinho to Swedish TV: "Well, he is intelligent, he takes the ball, normally, with great efficiency from the back. I am really happy with his evolution, but I need a little bit more. A defender must not be a nice boy."

100%. His lack of aggression is his biggest weakness. Strikers who have been around the block thrive against it

I am a huge critic of him, but his last 2 performances have been really good. Needs to carry this form on. Hopefully, he will get a clean sheet soon, that should do wonders for his confidence.

Definitely in need of more bad boy attitude. A forward who is tackled should eat the the grass and realise that it will hurt even more the next time.

About long balls. There are not many of those at all in United. Wonder if it is only Lindelof, or if the midfield/wingers/forward isn’t making themselves available. You see sometimes how he looks for picking a pass but changes his mind in last second.

This is correct! Lindelöf as you can see, by his posture, is a gamer, and should be working hard to build his back. Look at Fix your posture att youtube Vic.

No gladiator hunches! Just straighten up and look the role.

He's playing with more confidence and seems to be finding a fit next to Smalling. He positions himself well and some of his passing is sublime, and he seems happy to let Smalling do some of the more balls out flying in to tackles.

Looks a bit uncomfortable passing with his left, especially when closed down, which negates his qualities as a ball-playing CB somewhat. Still looks like Zidane in comparison to Smalling though.

When he had the skinhead at Benfica, I thought we were signing a hatchet man of a centre half.

Rocked up with quiff and a baby face.

Get the clippers out, Victor.

He was more of a cnut when playing for Benfica, always going head first into tackles and so on. I guess it's all about his comfort zone. He looks alright, still needs to bulk up though.

He's been very good lately but he should be playing on the right side and not the left. He can't pass with his left foot the problem is the only one who can play LCB is Rojo. All the others are better on the right hand side.

I have to admit, he's been good since the 2nd half of Juventus game. More forward passing, not being out of position too often & not getting outmuscle easily anymore. Well done, the big test will be in the next two games.

Thought he did really well again. Like night and day compared to how Smalling was playing today. Getting more confident with each game, hardly any back passes from him anymore.

Another decent one from him. Few more and we can even talk about some consistency in a defensive lineup.

Did ok today. Not great but not bad. I’d like to see some real big performances from our centre backs but I think the only way that happens is with new recruits.

We’d see more of his passing and progressive play if he played on the right.

Decent today. Shaky in the first half, but stepped it up in the second. Think VNL and our defense in general could improve if we replace Matic with someone who actually can help the defense.

Our back 4 in general were struggling for 35 minutes but he was the best of the two CB's and like Shaw he played his way into the game.

He was utterly crap in that first 30. Lucky for him Smalling was worse.

Grew into it after that, but yeah...

Lately he is our best defender. He is slowly moving out from my hit list of defenders. Now, he is the only one who i would keep. Just because of his potential. There is modern defender in him. Deep in him but it is there

I'm happy with his performances lately, a bit annoying that Smalling decided to take over the calamity role.

I think he'll be fine if we bring in a strong leader next to him, there is too much indecision between him and Smalling

No CB, I repeat no CB can look good without orotectpro from midfield. Our CBs get feck all.

The fact that smalling has been at this club for 8 years and still produces average to decent performance, I would give chances to lindelof and even bailly to prove themselves.

He'll be beast if we get Koulibaly and move Lindelof to his favourite position RCB.

A beast!!! He may turn out to be a good defender (I don't think he will), but if he does it will be because of his ball playing ability and positional sense. He is not pacey, he’s not robust, he’s not strong - he’s never going to be ‘a beast’.

What's left for him to improve:
1. Overall strength
2. Better body shape to be more imposing.
3. Ruthless tackles
4. Aggressive man marking
5. More of that through balls from deep

If he can achieve that, we might have a top defender in United.
