Some crazy line-up predictions in this thread. It's our only chance to win a trophy this season, we were never going to field the U18 team for this match. Ole said what he did about being good and old enough in the presser, but it didn't mean we'll be seeing a cameo for a new youngster every match til the end of the season and half of the starting XI in the cup being kids. You can say "well, they can't to worse than Fellaini" all you want but the likes of Garner and Gomes would be bullied by a team very much up for it and having tons of experience with the physicality of the Championship.

Was looking forward to this until I realised the mrs was going to be home at that time. She better not fecking talk.
The best way is to just kindly ask them to keep quiet during the game, it always works. Then you can put aside the duct tape and handcuffs.

No ones asking for the U18 team, these are U23 players who have been with the first team squad already and had preseason minutes etc.
This is the FA Cup where we traditionally play a few youth, how you're equating that to cameos every game is beyond me.

This is the perfect and really only time to get these proper lads minutes as they might prove useful by the end of the season.

And I'm sure there will be minutes for youngsters today too. But people get carried away a bit. It would be silly to think we'll have Laird starting in defense and Garner at DM.

Don’t get me wrong this match does present an opportunity to give some of the youth minutes but I personally wouldn’t be starting any of them.

I only say that because we’ve got momentum for the first time in ages and as bad as Reading might be, and as comfortable as this game should be, we can’t risk jepordising that the weekend before our first big test.

We’ll already be resting the likes of De Gea, Matic, Pogba, Rashford etc and we have players like Fred, Pereira, Sanchez, Lukaku who all need minutes. If the game does go smoothly then we have plenty of time in the second half to introduce the youngsters, but only once we’re comfortable.

Couldn’t agree more. It is much more important to get a lot of the first team players into match rythm (Pereira, Fred, Fellaini, even Darmian if he needs to cover due to injuries) than letting youngsters start. Some people are just irrational.

Hopefully Chong/Gomes can come off the bench if we are leading comfortably.

Do we not have any promising CB's coming through?
I vaguely remember some sort of hype for the guy who was really fast. RoShaun Williams? Any youth watchers know what the latest with him is?

Stagnated. He was promising and on the same level as Tuanzebe 2-3 years ago but not anymore. Had a few problems with injury as well. Neither he or Poole deserves to be in the squad, I'm sure Ole would've picked one young CB if he felt there was someone good enough right now.

So no, we don't really have a promising CB right now who is nearly ready for a first team game.

I would go for at least 9 changes due to all the recent fixtures and Reading’s poor form.

Romero; Dalot (Darmian if still injured), Young, Bailly, Jones; Fellaini, Fred, Pereira; Sanchez, Lingard, Lukaku

Subs - Grant, Darmian, Lindelof, Garner, Gomes, Martial, Greenwood
    Bailey is suspended

Mata starting instead of Chong would be a bit disappointing, there's enough experience with Lukaku and Sanchez up front to allow the 3rd spot to go to Chong.

It's basically a second first team but he needs to go for it with having nothing else to go for, and doesn't want the set back of being knocked out the cup to be something the media can run with.

Fellaini would have been better starting, instead of McTominay.

I guess that team is fine but it seems low risk to me. If chong and co cannot get in the team for a home game against lower opposition, when can they? Hope Chong is on at half time.
