I see pereira as yet another example of why kids need to think twice before moving to a big club as a youth player. We've not necessarily done anything wrong with the lad but it's clear to me that he would have made much greater progress at a smaller club. Maybe they don't have the facilities that we have but he'd have been given a more consistent chance in the first team by now, enabling him to progress.
Even with this limbo/caretaker manager season and injury crisis combo were still not in a position to give him the run of games he needs to find confidence and ultimately discover if he has a long term future at the club.
Of course this is all easy to say with hindsight and from the clubs perspective it's worth signing twenty of these players even if just one of them turns out to be an Mbappe but I can't help but think that players like pereira, fosu mensah or tuanzebe would have been better of signing for a Lille or even a West Brom.
I think Tuanzebe will be fine.

I feel for him a bit.
He had a good pre-season and was nailed on getting minutes this season. Mourinho for some reason gave him the cold shoulder and he didn´t get many minutes. Then after Ole took over he has started games and come on as a sub but that Burnley goal just summed up how hard it is here, before he should get chances and after the mistake he is rubbish and is nowhere near the club standard.

He is a young player with his Utd future hanging on the line, it would be mental if he wasn´t both rusty and nervy.
I am not saying he is good enough or he ever will be but like all other young players he will make mistakes and he needs minutes to get up to speed. Burnley goal or not I still think there is a really decent footballer there.

I don't understand how people expect a guy that barely plays to come in and immediately start showing his quality on the ball.
He needs to leave though. When does his contract end?

when has he ever shown us quality on the ball? I think he wasn't even that impressive on loan either. He has been around awhile and never shown anyone anything anywhere. Just romantic because he is an academy player and has an exotic name so people imagine he must be creative but he is extremely limited. He did ok for 'his' level yesterday

During pre seasons and on his loans he did very well.

During the pre-season he played more differently; he was playing like a ball playing midfielder.

Obviously the opponents and their intesity may be different; but why else is he struggling to do this? Is it because of the lack of game time or is it because we dont play that way?

or is it because preseason is an absolute joke that no one takes seriously and is no barometer of your ability? We used to beat Barcelona and Real Madrid pre season............

Shaw, after a long injury layoff up until maybe few weeks ago, looked a bit off and out of sorts, as if he never played LB before. Now, to me, is one of the outstanding player under Ole.

Pereira should be given more chances to at least regain his confidence again. Shaw took a (long) while, and now most first 11 are injured, Pereira should be given the same. Vs Liverpool, not the best offensive game but defensively good with alot of effort. Good signs.

Aside from some tidy touches in the opener against Leicester, I've really not been impressed with him. He's not been given much of a chance obviously, but I don't think he's United standard honestly.

He's had a season at Granada and another at Valencia. It's not like he hasn't been playing

Shaw is a proven top class talent though.

Pereira has never shown that type of ability.

So far looks completely out his depth. We know he has qualities but no confidence to showing them. What you are left with is a player that passes the ball backwards and sideways.....

He'll get a new contract and stay here. Both him and McTominay will. We'll either replace Fred or Ole will try to get him up and running and thus not buy any midfielders. Mark my words.

He showed passion , determination and grit, but where is the sauce ? Where is the flair and skills to get off from tight space ? Where is the quick feet ? For me he just looks like a shorter and weaker version of Mctominay. You expect a Brazilian midfielder to be technically adept not just showing passion, he can't even keep the ball better than Mctominay. If you don't have flair at least you should be physical, strong in the air or just try to be a constant nuisance for opposition but He is none of it.

Kid has got a nice shot on him, good crossing and can pass the ball the few times I've seen him in Valencia.

He hasn't shown that for us yet but I'm certain he has it in his locker, just needs the confidence to unlock it and that's what the last game will have given him.

He has shown grit in the last game and now he has to add finesse to it if he wants to be a proper replacement for Herrera, we need him to and more importantly he has the ability to do just that.

Pereira has never shown that type of ability.
After Lindelof, I expected people to have learned their lessons in writing off players during a difficult period and this boy hasn't been given the opportunities the former had in redeeming himself.

You might say Lindelof had proven himself elsewhere and you'd be right but Andreas has also proven to be better on the ball than what he's showing now also.

He might not be United quality and he might end up being just that but he needs to play more before we can truly judge him, not all players can show what they're made up in few minutes here and there.

I've seen a lot of him in the reserves and at Granada and Valencia. He couldn't get into the team at Valencia. I don't think United can afford to give players loads of time on the off chance that they might suddenly improve to a level they've never shown before. If there were obvious attributes that just needed refining I'd maybe think differently but I don't think there are.

Fair enough, I just feel he can show better than he has currently and if he doesn't grab his chance now that the stars have aligned for him with our injuries then we can't afford the time to bed him in as you say.

I just have the belief he can and will do better, don't fail me now Andreas.

It's possible. He actually had a couple of very encouraging performances for Valencia against the likes of Real and Barca. But overall his level just doesn't seem that high. Hopefully he does well. We need him to right now.

So many people writing him off! I would love to see him get a run in the team, and put in some great performances. I believe he has the ability, and I would think he is showing more than Fred in training, that's why he got the call on Sunday. Some players just need the opportunity, ala Rashford. If any player wears the United shirt, then I want them to do well.

Improved massively when played as the most advanced midfielder. Brilliant goal.

I don't know what happened at the break but that was a brilliant second half. Looks like he can still have his uses.

I dont think he was great in the first 45 minutes but than he had a beautiful goal and assist within 15 minutes of the second 45 minutes. Eventhough i dont think he was great in the first 45 minutes he did show that he is a pretty good crosser.

Happy for him. Hopefully fills him with confidence. From his first appearances I've thought there's a player in there and they obviously see something in him.

Rescued a poor first half to turn in a really good performance. Wheels came off at the end but he'd worked really hard so it's understandable what with his lack of matches.
