Once again very good performance alongside Lindelof. Don't remember in which half but the ball was floated and PSG played was about to get at the end of it, Lindelof read it well and cleared it. Thought his positioning, reading of the game was very good.

Say what you like about Mourinho, but he can actually pick a good defender.
Lindleof is looking better and better with every game. I was starting to doubt him (along with a lot of other players too) towards the end of Mourinho's reign, but he's improved immeasurably in the last few months and looks like a top class defender now. Keep it up Victor!

Flawless performance between him and Smalling.

@Ekeke do you rate him now? Or is Granqvist still better? :D:wenger:
That a lot of people were sceptical or worried about Lindelöf just some months ago, I don’t find strange. He had some horrible performances and took a lomg time showing his strengths anywere near consistently.

What did baffle me, was the few people claiming to know he had no potential for improvement, and failing to see his strengths when he actually did play well, to the point of blatant denial.

Did he though? I mean he also signed Bailly and offered a contract extension to Rojo. Both very passionate and aggressive but also calamitous, panicky defenders with poor reading of the game.

Seems too hit and miss to claim he had a particular knack for picking them.

Agreed. Though we do seem to have a habit of writing players off early in their United careers.

He also bought dalot and blooded mcTominay in a defensive role too

Mourinho messed up here but he deserves credit for some of these guys

What do you mean blooded McTominay in a defensive role? Do you mean the 2 games when he played as a CB, against Soton and West Ham, and we conceded 5 goals? All for Mourinho to make his point that we should have bought him another CB in the summer? He loses even more credit then. He's not getting any.

Look, I'll give him credit for Dalot, Lindelöf and giving chances to McT. Credit where it's due. But Dalot's best attributes are his attacking intent and his crossing, hence he plays as a winger now, not his defensive ones. And McT is a CM. I don't think they can be used in the argument that Mou was particularly good at picking defenders.

Didn’t really notice him yesterday, except for a couple of really nice tackles. That’s a good thing considering the events in the game. He is an integral part of the team now, imo.

Yup he is clearly a defensive midfielder
He helped blood him and played him in big games
Mourinho deserves credit for helping his development as does van gaal with Rashford etc

Yes. Did you get out of bed on the wrong side or are you just looking for an argument?

Chill out bro
Replies to a post with arguments irrelevant to the discussion. Thinks other people are looking for an argument.

Whatever man.

The first paragraph there, it does bring back some horrible memories. The description you’ve given is somewhat identical to what I thought at the time. Just want to forget Mou was ever here.

You're talking absolute nonsense, mate. Sort yourself out. Yes I edited your white text.
Bailly and Rojo have each had 1 good season too. Until we see otherwise its perfectly reasonable to think it might or might not happen

It's very hard for me to give Mourinho credit for Lindelof and our defense after he gave up on them. Spent half the time bemoaning how shit they were.

He has played well since after Christmas last season, then he has lifted himself to a new level lately. Everybody who has been complaining last year either didn’t want him to be successful or don’t have eyes trained enough to see talent when there is.

He's best on the right IMO, he certainly does a good job on both sides now though.

He signed Lindelof and Vic's good form started under Jose, but ok.

Yeah, I've plenty of criticism for Jose but there's no denying Lindelof started improving well before his sacking.

No, no, he credited them for their heroic efforts and said they gave him everything he could hope for (given their limited capabilities).

You can see why they call him the Iceman! Superb once again and his partnership with Smalling suits his game too, given time they will only get better together.

That was Lindelof of the first season. Hopefully just one game and that's it.

Worst performance of his season, looked a nervous wreck with the ball in the air, was misjudging everything and it affected his confidence even on the ball. Have to think that was behind the switch of him to the right side.

Was due a poor one, has been so solid recently, hopefully he puts this behind him quickly.

De gea and Lukaku cost us the game today but Lindelof was atrocious for 90 minutes. He was a bag of nerves and Arsenal's strikers could sense it and they ended up giving him the run around for the whole game. Smalling was babysitting him today and even worse had to take the onus on playing out from the back because Lindelof was too scared to.
