Or becase what the club/player was feeling from Mou was that it wasn't going to work out, but from Ole they are getting different info. They could have activated this ages ago yet do it now after he's had some game time.
We would have triggered it regardless. We have to wait until beyond this season to see what actually happens.

If he keeps on improving to the end of the season he might stay, and if not we'll probably get a good fee in the summer after a few good performances in the PL this season.

I think and hope he can play a role at the club, I hope that he wants to even if it is as a squad-player. He has the talent and is not so far away that some think, imo. He has a few attributes that should contribute to his chances of staying and that is his aggression. Ability to press and run for the team, which is something Ole has talked about. He has good technique and a great right foot for a shot and a pass. He is quite good at manipulating the ball so if he can better his composure and find a higher level of consistency in his performances, he'll be very useful.

Also, he'll have a far greater career than Cleverley had. He simply has too much in his locker for that not to happen at this point.

Nice weighted pass to play Lingard in that led to the 2nd goal, Ole clearly likes him ahead of Fred.

The fact that he doesn't shit himself when pressed was a boost for us.

Andreas always did well against Barca; I will not be surprised if he will start tomorrow.

It's a shame but I don't think he will make it here.

Do we cash in this summer, or give him another season and see how he develops but we may lose him for nothing.

I don't think we're in a position to be getting rid of midfielders, even if we lose him on a free. We've already got Herrera to replace, we'll need Pereira for another season even if it's just for the numbers.

We just extended his deal he won't be going anywhere this summer especially as Fellaini has left and Herrera looks to be going too.

I think McTominay has what it takes to replace Herrera.

I don't rate Herrera as highly as most on here and I only saw him as a squad player so to me McTominay is more than adequate

I would take the risk of using him far more often next season. My thinking is basically the footballer's age curve. Too often we make judgements based on how a player is performing right now, rather than how you might reasonably expect them to do in the next two or three years. Someone aged 30 will probably decline in that time frame, whereas a player who has La Liga and PL experience aged 23, will probably be a decent player in their mid 20s, assuming they have the right attitude and avoid serious injuries.

Andreas has tons of technical ability. He has demonstrated a willingness to work hard for the team, in recent matches against Liverpool and PSG. He can produce moments of magic, such as his goal against Southampton. What he still lacks is midfield wisdom. Knowing the appropriate choice for different situations on the pitch. That should come with age and playing time. He played wide left most of the time for Granada and wide right/left for Valencia.

I admit that his performances this season have not been amazing. And he may be frustrated at his lack of game time.

As things stand, I would have McTominay as a regular starter, Matic and Fred sharing one position, with Andreas as back-up for Scott and Paul. I could see Pereira making 15 to 20 PL starts under that scenario.

If we buy another central midfielder to replace Ander Herrera, that leaves Pereira in a difficult position, with limited opportunity to play. Should Solskjaer want to keep Andreas for next season, he may need to convince Pereira that he will get far more opportunities to play.

I thought he was going to be playing wingback but ended up as a RB, did the best he could, his effort is always evident IMO.

Not sure he could do a lot in the 2/3 minutes he played that wasn't at full back? I'd take him as a starting option over Lingard/Mata at the minute.
I agree with this assessment. I strongly feel that he should be given starting opportunities until the end of the season. Our midfield is tattered and weak, and when you factor in the fact that Pogba is not going to be dropped it means that there are really only two seats up for grabs in Ole's system week to week. I think McTom and Andreas have been really stepping up considering they are fringe players. They have both been more consistent than many of our starters.

I think that utilising these two and Greenwood as bigger components in the team would do us good till the end of the season. That means giving them more than 15 minutes of scrap football to salvage.

I'd be starting Pereira in favour of Lingard and McTom in favour of Mata. Martial, Lukaku and Rashy should be our front three with Greenwood as the sub.

He completed some passes and actually looked like a professional footballer. It was so exciting to see.

Glad he was given an opportunity but disappointed by his performance. Too many poor passes, miscontrols and dispossessed too often. Tried hard as usual.

Picked up a fair few second balls, but just a lack of quality going forward.

Nice kid works hard but no where near a man united class midfielder, get rid.
Offers very little but runs a round a lot.

Would rather give his minutes to Gomes. Pereira's control is not tight enough and the game is too fast for him.

You could write the same thing in Pereira and Lingard's threads, both worked hard, just not good enough on the ball.
