I'm not even a casual fan of the sport and only watch the odd major race, but today was a first and looked like an outright shit decision to overturn.

Maximum Security crosses 1st at Kentucky Derby

Maximum Security crossed the line first in the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby Saturday at Churchill Downs.

An objection has been filed and the result is not yet official

Country House was second and Code of Honor finished third.

Maximum Security has won all five races he has entered.

Heavy rains leading up to post time led the track being downgraded from fast to sloppy

I don't know enough about or follow the sport to care about arguing over but there was no actual disaster, the horse that initially won did lead throughout the race, and that jockey did a fantastic job regaining control of the horse as it veered right in a wet track. Dame shame overall even if it's a legit decision.

The interesting bit is that the horse that was apparently interfered with that jockey did not lodge the complaint, it came from the runner-up jockey (and determined "winner" in the end) and the jockey that finished sixteenth.
