Pakistan always carry an unpredictable tag abd always surprise in the tournament but truth to be told this Pakistan side is not good enough to be able to turn around and win the tournament.

I agree. They're rubbish. They've not done anything of note for a while now.
Just saw this is their 11th consecutive odi loss. Shocking if that is true.
They were rained off against England in a warm up game, so there's a silver lining
Windiez gonna win this.. or go to the final if the pitches are that bouncy. Pakistani batsmen are so predictable though. Apart from Babar Azam (Fakhar Zaman to an extent) they are all walking wickets to the short ball.
It's like they have never seen a short ball in their life or something.
A shame really, I thought Windies and Pak would be a very close game -- similar teams undergoing a similar downfall past few decades.

Umm, you forget that Russell is the premier allrounder in limited overs cricket these days and that WI also have an in-form Gayle. Think they have other useful cricketers too like Pooran. Can't think of any top level players that Pak have at the moment.
Fakhar, Babar and Amir (on their days) can also be a handful. I think Pakistan does have top level players that aren't just hacks. They just also have a lot of average dross in there (Hafeez, Malik, Sarfraz, Hassan Ali, Imad Wasim).
However, I still think on their day they can pretty much beat any team. Their issues are mental as well as lacking quality.
I think quality vs quality Pakistan and West Indies should have been a close game. The fact that they just collapsed is a very Pakistan self destruct thing to do. A little bit of misfortune (openers getting out weirdly) and they don't have the mentality to fight back.
Looking at the ICC schedule, why the hell aren't we playing on Sunday?
I think it's obvious. They want to play the matches while working class scobs are at work. That's why they are playing the games at 10:30 as well. Day night games would be so much better.

I wouldn't call any of them world class though. Dre Russ is a world class player that would get into any side. Gayle is Gayle. Pak just doesn't have the game changers like those at the moment like they did maybe 5-10 years ago.
Dre Russ certainly isnt world class. Hes hardly played international cricket.
You do realize that a lot of the top West Indies players haven't been playing international cricket recently due to disputes with the WI board? Your point is hardly relevant in this situation.
They want sellouts. England is a sellout on any given day. Ban-SA would not be a sellout on a Monday.
10:30 maximises the Asian audience. D/N games go beyond the prime time in Asia.

Makes (some) sense. We play England, Aus and Pakistan on a weekend though. Our SA probably should have been, too. I guess im being impatient given how long it is till we play our first game.

Probably relying on NZ-SL more than Aus-Afg though. Hopefully a big turner for Rashid Khan, but most teams content to take 40 from his ten and get more from the rest

But Fecks over the British audience. The majority of people in the UK work between the hours of 7am to 5pm.
I'm lucky I work 6am to 2pm so I can get home to see the second innings. Well I did in the England match. West Indies v Pakistan was a different matter.
I wasn't being serious about keeping the working class out. Although the prices for the England matches make it hard justifying using up a holiday day and spending a weeks wages to watch a cricket match. When we looked it up they were asking around £500 a ticket for England v India at Edgbaston.

I can see that but they are facilitating an audience that would likely watch it no matter what time of day it was being shown. They could have tapped into a new audience that either has only seen test cricket and found it boring or have never seen cricket.
This game is vastly different to what even One Day Cricket was 20 years ago. It's far more entertaining than it used to be. Try to sell it to a new audience.
I suppose they are not the team they used to be. Poor start from them and a good one for the Kiwis.
I'm guessing it's more about what the broadcasters are willing to pay. I'm guessing showing the game at Indian prime TV gets the Indian broadcasters to throw more money at the ICC.
They reduced the world cup from 14 to 10 teams. That tells you all you need to know about their desires to encourage new audiences. ICC/BCCI are elitists.
