Most likely to do with Bangladesh player antics few years back and stuff like them publicizing images of Dhoni's severed head etc. They have a habit of winding us up for staying relevant and most of us like watching them fail after all the jumping around (unintentional reference). A bit of Liverpool - Everton kind of relationship. Having said that its nothing but light hearted banter so not sure why it's suddenly disrespectful to have a laugh about other teams losing in a sport.
It's the best part of sports for me, if you cant make fun of smug teams for losing what's the point.

If it's just complacency, how come England don't get complacent when they spank these two teams regularly outside of tournaments?
?

We've fairly regularly had absolute blow outs against sides we should beat in bilateral series.

Yeah for all the England talk we are talked up a lot as well and if India don't win you can be sure all those 'don't laugh at us please' brigade is gonna leave no stones unturned. All part of the game either ways.

Sri Lanka have won 1 of the last 10 bilateral ODIs vs England. Pakistan have won 2 of the last 18 bilateral ODIs vs England. Yet those two teams have somehow won all 3 tournament ODIs vs England in the last two years.

It's more than just complacency.

No idea what you are on about. Not sure where you have seen so much hyping up of India team. You implied England have been amazing in last 4 years. Amazing in setting some ODI batting records but flopping in winning a global tournament at home. Like I said keep wanking to 400+ totals in one off games. Or maybe recruits folks from more non English nation's next time.
 the salt

If Roy is going to miss the rest of the World Cup we have to recall Alex Hales

Playing with Vince at the top is effectively starting with one wicket gone already because you know he's going to fail for a nothing score.

Bairstow needs to tighten up, two Golden ducks in the first 6 games is hurting us.

Some utter brain-dead shot selection, particularly from Moeen and Archer. I don't think we'll be winning the world cup because we don't have the ticker in the big moments. Too often under pressure we wilt.
It's a long tournament and you're bound to get off games, the important thing is not to peak too early. Better off having these off days in games like these than the knockout stage.

I love this English team and they're still amongst the favourites to win. Most top teams will have such matches where complacency will cost them. Hope them, India and Australia reach the semi. Not impressed by the rest but would like to see Bangladesh take the last spot.

Lot of debate about people wanting England to lose. I'll gladly admit that I do. They're a one dimensional team who bore me to death, and excel in the worst of cricket matches - where bowlers are irrelevant. Would like nothing more in this world cup than to see them fail.

I am okay with great teams dominating, when they have technique and skill. England, having patronised the rest of the world(and particularly the sub continent) for flat tracks over the last decade, are now the ultimate flat track bullies.

Aye, very poor under any kind of pressure at this WC. Our bowling too often looks average and the batting line-up that looks supreme on paper wilts too easily as you say. I hate to pile it all on Vince as there were many poor performances but if he's an international opening bat I'll eat a stump.

Nonsense. They may have a fortitude problem but they are technically as good as some of the best players in the tournament. What makes you think players like Root, Stokes and Buttler cant perform on tough pitches. Yes, bowling is a bit lightweight, just like Australias is

Stokes in the IPL? Barely got going on those pitches.

Although, I do think they're three of Englands best allround batsmen.

Banter is literally the best thing about sport. Anyone that gets actually offended or upset by banter needs to take a step back and realize that they’re taking the sport too seriously. See it all the time in the football forums.

Looking forward to WI NZ today. I 100% expect a loss, but it should still be a good watch.

Don't know why India didn't go with Pant. There is absolutely no point having both Jadhav and Shankar in the team, especially since Shankar had an injury scare and missed training. This game would have given Pant a good opportunity to get used to the conditions.

It's all about dimensions. Ask MSK Prasad if you don't believe me.

No side batting first at this ground has even scored 250 in the first innings. So not a mega total pitch but we should still score 300

Don't mind these two getting big runs.

It's a bit pointless watching India matches till the semis now, basically glorified practice games.

Massive stroke of luck there.
Would love to see India lose 2,3 quick wickets. Will be interesting to see how Pandya, Shankar and Jadhav handle the pressure if India lose their top 4 for under 50.
I remember a Under 19 WC in which India reached the final where the lower middle order didn't even have to come out to bat in most games as the top order was in top form. But in the final, the top order collapsed and the middle order couldn't do anything as they had not been tested at all the whole series. It will he good for India if one of the three can get a 100 and get some much needed practice

The outfield is slow as feck as well.

Yeah it would definitely be good to have the middle order spent time out in the middle. Hardik is fine, has already faced enough balls and is in good form but would need both Dhoni and Kedar to be ready when time comes. We'll still be reliant on our top order in the KOs, that's a fact we can't really change between now and then.

Looks like Virat is looking to get going here, even if he doesn't score really big hopefully he plays in full flow and not bogged down like he has been so far in previous games.

Kohli is the most aesthetically pleasing batsman in recent times.
Fair to say he isn't the most aesthetically pleasing batsman in Indian team. That's rohit.

He's by far the best though.
