I doubt they will be too concerned about what City, Liverpool or Spurs are doing. They'll be hoping we can do just enough to get our noses ahead of Arsenal & Chelsea.
Not concerned in the slightest, season tickets are still selling out, merchandise is still being bought...the Glazer world is rosy.

If Spurs get Ndombele and Liverpool Fernandes the Glazers will have to be making some major moves to stop us slipping into obscurity.
I don’t know why we haven’t signed Bruno yet. Maybe Ole want Maddison instead? British core and they play somewhat in the same position.

Regardless, I believe you are discounting the fact that we are about to sign one of the best fullback in football in AWB. He would be a great addition if Spurs get N’Dombele, Liverpool get Bruno and we can nab AWB and Maddison.

I'm quietly optimistic, and before the window started I said I would be surprised if we don't break our transfer record on a midfielder this summer. I haven't seen much of Ndombele, but he seem to have qualities we desperately lack at the moment.

Ok now I'm panicking over our transfers.
De Gee doesn't look like signing a new deal with us .
Paul Pogba wants out.
Lukaku is in talks with inter.
We've lost Herrera, Valencia And Fellani
We've only signed one player from the championship (even though I'm happy with the Transfer).

We are being linked with players like
Aarons , Longstaff,Dier etc...it seems west ham is signing better players then we are even linked with.

Now Tottenham are signing 65m midfielders.
Am I wrong in panicking? I know the Glazziers are to blame putting us in debt But Woodward still has funds to spend And wastes them like a child playing Manager Mode .

No, he just said that he will probably accept the transfer, if the fee is accepted by Lyon.
We still don't know if Spurs or Juventus can match the asking price of 90 M €.
Ed must throw the money now and see if someone can follow.
If nobody can, we will probably get him, if we offer a good salary.
Too many if. The fact is that spurs went to final CL last season without spending single penny and lost Dembele. Their stadium is done so Levy has no excuse not to buy a new midfielder to replace Dembele and I think spurs will get him while we end up with either or may be both tielemans or/& Longstaff.

Surely Spurs need more than 1 CM to strengthen their squad? I reckon an upgrade on Trippier/Aurier would be much needed too. Hell, maybe another CM since Wanyama can't really be relied on anymore.

I think he's overrated and am relieved we aren't in for him. I look forward to watching him give the ball away for Spurs next season.
Just wait and see how he does. He is going to a better than dembele with greater output

Similar window last summer too. I think we'll lose Pogba and De Gea next summer and our this summer will be the same as last, as will next. I think we'll start a proper rebuild in 2-3 years once Woodward has gone and maybe the Glazers too.

That sounds quite optimistic (the rebuilding under new owners/CEO part). They may be here for many years yet.

Aulas vs Levy is box office stuff in itself.
I'm kind of hoping Levy comes out on top and does him over, serves that Aulas prat right for messing us about last summer with Fekir, now he's crying because he can't find a buyer for him.

Best fullback in football? Seriously? He isn't even a full international and is fresh from making an embarrassing own goal with the U21s which had a big say in their elimination

AwB is promising at best

I just don't think their priorities are in-line with fans. Woody is just there to help the marketing and the Glazers know it's far too much money and trouble to rebuild whilst they are still pushing merch and selling tickets. Ultimately the kit sales and all that good stuff will soon suffer and the pressure will be on them to sell and they'll get a great offer.

I think the hiring of Mourinho and the signings of Pogba, Lukaku etc; were the last roll of the dice as far as trying to truly compete and push for silverware. I think now it's just a matter of if we do win then cool, if not then that's fine too.

“One of”. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be commanding such high fee. His stats last season was impressive and amongst the best in Europe.

He is commanding such high fee because everyone takes us to the cleaners these days. The guy from the championship costed us nearly 10m more then what Leeds were willing to pay for him and that despite he is heading towards the end of his contract

Because he is on the radar of major clubs around Europe and it's a bit of a coup to get him. That and I'm used to us not signing anybody.
But oddly, no other club seems to be making a move for him. Considering he'll likely want a CL club, who else who could afford the fee would need him? City are signing Rodri, Liverpool don't need a central midfielder, Chelsea can't sign anyone, Barcelona are sorted. Bayern aren't after a central midfielder, PSG or Atletico maybe?

Kinda seems Spurs have a clear run.

Tbh I think Levy is already one up in their battle from during the Hugo Loris negotiations. If I recall, a £15m fee was agreed and then Levy reneged on the terms and wanted to pay £5m a year for 5 years which delayed the deal for a while. Levy won in the end I believe.

Still, you couldn’t ask for a more heavyweight clash!

@JPRouve I'm sure you've been asked this to death by now but how good is he/do you think he'll be a big success in the Premier League?

Only seen him a few times and only against top opposition but was struck by his passing and technical quality, though he didn't seem that fussed to get involved in the play. Maybe he'll be a better fit with Sissoko doing work then Winks as a partner?

Either way, seems like a massive upgrade at Spurs' 2nd weakest position (right back obviously a massive question with Trippier looking like a league one player defensively by the end of the season).

It seems weird to think Kante went for just 30m, in 2016. The engine room of a PL winning side as well.

The past 3 years has to be the most inflationary ever. Even 2001 wasn’t this bad.

No one is pointing a gun towards our transfer committee and Woodward to pay the fee that he is commanding. We can move on if the fee is unrealistic like we have done many times in the past. We are or might be paying that fee because the scouts at United understand he is talented and one of the best fullback in Europe.

That same summer Pogba went for 89m... which was when inflation sorta began.

I would like to have the Glazers and Ed Woodward have nothing to do with the club.... hopefully, in the next couple of years. Jim Ratcliffe or the Saudi Prince.... hoping one of the them decide to buy the club. The Old Trafford ground which used to be the Theatre of Dreams is poorly maintained. It needs refurbishing.... Also, the club is haggling and penny pinching like as if we just got promoted to the Premier League for the first time.

It's all a bit baffling, I'd like to think he turned us down if anything, at least that would mean we were in for him and that would show an element of sense.

Could also be the fact he looked at the clowns and sick notes Spurs have in midfield and thought to himself im going to walk into this starting 11. The only competition I have is fellow Frenchmen Sissoko.

He is a good player with all the tools to be very good but he is also inconsistent and needs to develop mentally.

What is gone wrong with.the dick heads here.Ndombele is the player we need for our midfield and for 55 million he would be a snip.

The sad part is not that we missed on him. It's the fact that we are probably going to spend more than what spurs pay for him to get a lesser player.
