India has the top2 batsmen in ICC rankings, top bowler and 3 in top 10 off bowling rankings and Hardik is one of the top all rounders . Selection process around them is absolutely crazy though . Pant wasn't picked in the squad because he was only considered as back up wk and they went with DK . Then they pick pant in place of Dhawan. Rayudu was the backup batsman and now they have picked Mayank Agarwal . Pant then comes in and plays while DK is still sitting. It makes no sense at all
They're ran very poorly. Their leadership especially is extremely poor.

They're stacked full of talent and should be dominating like the Aussies were, but their leadership lets them down. Putting all of their eggs in the Dhoni basket after 2015 was extremely poor

Poor Shankar. Got slated by so many people and now out of it. If there were any accountability then Shastri and selection panel would be immediately sacked after the WC. (even if we win it). The last 2 years has been atrocious when it comes to the whole middle order experiment.

Big call now to either start Mayank up top and move Rahul back to 4. Don't think he will start tomorrow anyway, doubt he was in UK already so best case he reached their today evening.

This is such pathetic stuff by Indian selectors. Mayank Aggarwal is a good player but if they rate him so highly then why wasn't he given a chance in NZ Squad when Gill was called up.

Loads of contradictions. Shastri and the selectors ought to go.

All I can say guys, is that a work colleague was at the game yesterday (an Indian supporter) and they thought they were watching a Test Match rather than an ODI towards the end and were frustrated that not enough effort was being put in to reach the target.

Yep. I really don't know what qualifies Shastri to be in his role. India's results have certainly been mixed under his leadership.

Should have been given a run ahead of Gill if they thought Gill wasn't ready.

There are so many things you can pick holes into so best to forget about the whole thing now. I mean Rayadu is not even 3rd or 4th choice now when he got the majority of the chances.

Our selectors  . Like some have said irrespective of the results they should be sacked. Poor planning. Msk prasad's and his 3D comment about shanjar is as worse as Woodward saying we can do things in the market that others can dream of.

To think where the West Indies could be right now if it weren't for Nathan Coulter Nile.

Yeah it's a difficult shot, timing is key along with those monster bats they have these days making it easier, plus he also targeted the shorter boundary. Good cricket.
On top of that the man is a freak of nature. Like someone said here, he may be inconsistent at times, but he's the kind of guy you will any day have on your side in any competition as he's gonna do something productive for you either ways and the final delta would always be positive. Just an absolute naturally gifted powerful athlete.

Really like the look of avishka fernando. Needs proper geooming and SL may have a star batsmen. Same applies to Hetmyer. Two talented batsmen who need to get aboce and beyond t20 and start playing match winning innings.

Reminds me of Arvinda DeSilva. Groom him well and he's their mainstake for at least a decade.

Absolutely. The boy can bat. I really hope SL board tries to build their next gen players by having the likes of Mahela and Sanga as their coaches. Those two are masters of the game, who better to learn than those two. Watched the Mumbai Indians documentary and Mahela surely knows what he is doing. Get him on board and build for the next WC.

Red Card for Casemiro!
Mayank Agarwal for the injured Shankar ahead of:

Ambati Rayudu,
Ajinkya Rahane
Shreyas Iyer
Shubman Gill
Prithvi Shaw

Shastri and Co have fecked us up so much. The one time we have a great bowling and fielding unit, they feck up the batsmen. Useless feckers.

England were the better team marginally on the day and they won. There were no conspiracy theories or fixes.
You do realise the only possible way India could lose a game of cricket is that the game was fixed, right? :nervous:

Not sure if pant ever opened but wouldn't mind seeing that as Rahul has been meh regardless of his score, doesn't look comfortable at all.

At least with Pant we'll get a high score in first 10 if he sticks around.
