On the one hand, what he does on his own time is his business, and he hasn’t done anything wrong, he is just a clown.

But on the other hand, he keeps showing the team and the world that he is just a clown. This is not the sort of example we want to influence the young players including Rashford, nor the mentality to have in our dressing room.

That argument is void when he uploads these videos on snapchat or instagram though, it is no longer private through his own choice.

Can't fecking take Neville seriously anymore. He clearly has agenda

Pogba's social media team posted a poorly timed pic when Mourinho was fired. Addidas came out and apologized but Neville saw it as an absolute crime/ double downed on it when corrected.
But it's okay for" young" English lad to do it huh Gary?

It's the giving their all rubbish. Yes you want to see your players giving their all, but that will only get you so far. A player in Division II will being giving their all. If you have eleven triers in your team you will just have a very tired team at the end of a game, but nothing else.

Yeah man, just a young player, a 26 year old man. Academy lad very young player..

Pogba is the same age, and also from our academy I never hear the 'young player/academy graduate' excuses trotted out for him.

I hate that 'giving it your all' mentality. Certain sections of modern society just want to mollycoddle people by deluding them and rewarding them with essentially a trophy that says "You Tried" which people take as just as successful as being the best... instead of just being frank about it, and just telling someone you're just not good. I know it's not easy to do but someones got to do it.

For me, it's different because it appears like Pogba does have power in the dressing room and the smirk is different to Lingard messing around. A better comparison would be if Gary had a go at Pogba for dancing or having a haircut.

I only just watched the video there. After all the comments I did expect worse.

He says at the end “RoShaun Williams’ room.” RoShaun Williams is 20 years old and no longer at the club. It’s nice he’s kept in touch with United players but why the feck would Lingard want to hang out with a 20 year old is beyond me. I’m 27 too, that’s the last thing I’d want to do

Its weird isn't it? Maybe his brain is taking even longer than his body did to mature to the same level as the other lads. Maybe there's a Sir Alex quote about that too.

He is such a negative influence on Rahford, ever since he started to bro him and Rashfrd's focus got worse.

If the worst thing Lingard does is run around screaming BEANS, he's really not a problem.

Look at the behaviour of a sh!t tonne of other players for actual problems!

And yet pogba wasn't young and wasn't giving his all.
Fecking hypocrite
All this “He is a young lad” stuff is ridiculous. He is only a year younger than Roy Keane was when he put in that captains performance in the Juve Semi in 99... he should be in the peak of his career. Fully developed. He works hard, but he just isn’t very good. When he leaves he will fade into obscurity just like the Cleverley’s of the world. Wouldn’t get in City’s 3rd 11!!

Don't care about the stupidity of Lingard or any other player, more concerned about their level of performance on the pitch but you can bet your house if it was a player from different nationality, Same words wouldn't have been used.

He's no longer a young lad our Jesse, as he'll turn 27 by December. Jesse has 111 Premier League appearances to his name - scoring 17 goals and assisting another 12.

That's a shocking return for an attacking player who plays mainly as a RW and CAM for Manchester United, who is also rumored to earn 100k a week.

This is his 4th full season with the first team, as I disregard the 14\15 season (played just this one game vs Swansea and got injured for half a season, then when he got back from injury he immediately went on loan to the Championship).
There are rumors floating around about the club wanting to renew his contract. Surely this is not the way forward.

Rejoice
Hopefully it's just media wind-up and a way to get our fans riled up about it.

I imagine Lingard would demand at least £200k per week if there are any talks of extending his contract. In my mind, he should be one of the first to be sold, but I know it's not realistic and many local fans would back him very strongly anyway, so "jlingz"is here to stay.

if we fecking extend Lingard, then I will really start to despair (and question Ole’s judgment.)

So we send Herrera packing but are going to extend this clown? Is this fecking Bizzaro world or do different rules apply to our worst players where they can still stink out the place and be rewarded? Nowhere to hide indeed Ole..

Yeah because all the reputed papers reported we are extending Lingard's contract.

You are right, but would it surprise you the way we are being run? After all Young and Jones got new contracts.
Yes, both had 6 months left on contract before extending and Lingard has contract for 3 more years.

That's a valid point and I hope you are right. But nothing would surprise me anymore.
I would lose all the trust if Lingard gets new contract with 3 years left on his old contract. Hopefully it won't come to that.

I don't expect Lingard to get goals and assist when playing off the right. When he hit his best form he played as the number 10. It's not a coincidence. He is a good player.
Jesse Lingard is not a good player. His performances, effectiveness, contribution, impact have been nothing but both average and inconsistent. For a number of years.

His actual ability is limited. His decision making is awful. He provides no leadership. He doesn't pass v well. He doesn't create v much. He rarely scores goals. He certainly isn't a ball-winner.

He is an average player, who should NOT be considered good enough for Manchester United FC.

He is an off-field 'personality'... a social media opportunist whose lifestyle is based SOLELY upon the Manchester United FC brand.

I think he is a disgrace, and shames the club. Scholes, Schmeichel, Keane, Ince have all said that his behaviour would not have been tolerated in the changing rooms in years gone by.

Well, it is now it seems, and now look at us.

How this is acceptable to some United fans is what worries me. Deliver on the pitch, and do pretty much like what you want off-field. But to garner such levels of attention whilst producing nothing much more than consistent mediocrity, well, that is just an embarrassment, for both player and club.

Like I said, he is clearly better in a central position.

Assuming these contract rumours are true (and of course, there is every chance that they aren't,) it boggles the mind to think that we would be looking to improve Lingard's terms. He's already on a very generous contract, and it's fair to say that he has hardly outplayed that contract. He's 26 years old, and just off the top of my head, I can't think of too many players who made the leap from average, which is very much where Lingard resides, to key contributor on a top-4 contending team (I guess Vardy would be one.) And for any players who have bloomed late like that, I would imagine they got paid after the breakout season (ie. were rewarded for actually delivering on the pitch,) not preemptively, in a kind-of fingers-crossed, optimistic way (which might make some sense for the likes of Rashford and Martial, but makes zero sense for Lingard.)

If United offer improved terms to Lingard, it can't help but feed into the notion that the club value him as much, if not more, for his off-pitch brand-building, social media presence, than for his mediocre performances on the pitch. And even more worryingly, it would lend further credence to the uncomfortable notion that Ole is unwilling to stand up to that nonsense, despite all his bold, angry claims at the end of the season.
