That is a ludicrous decision to give Messi a red. He's literally done nothing but stand his ground, not raise his arms or head as Medel has kept coming at him. That's surely going to be overturned?

I can say with a straight face that was one of the worst reds in football history.

Any normal ref would dish out two yellows and say "leave it" and move on.

I was getting sick of the ref then he sent Messi off. He's in my good books now.

Premier Sports commentator suggests any ban would be the WC qualifiers. Not sure if he's correct?

Everybody in the VAR room as well.
Not a situation where they have much to do with it. This is on the ref. What VAR gonna tell him "we think it should've been yellows"? Ref saw everything, it was his own judgement call

So Chile get a VAR penalty when Argentina are about to take a corner....

It looked like a foul, just inside the box I think.

Was one I think.

I feel for the ref, two teams full of absolute cnuts behaving like feral animals. It's a shit job even more so because of the Brazil-Argentina semi.

That's exactly what VAR has been introduced for, to stop refs making a huge mistake.

Messi should not have even got a yellow.

Simple scenario, they tell him that is not a red card, he looks at the screen and SHOULD change his original decision and Medel sees red still.

It's a judgement call. Ref saw everything. There's nothing to correct because it's not a wrong call. If the ref decides that's enough for a red, than it is. He's the ref, not VAR

Aguero finishing always seems rushed for Argentina. Missed two big chances to wrap up the game.
