I know for a fact that he's itching to get his first goal at first team level. He needs to relax and play his game and everything will hopefully happen naturally.

Denis Irwin selected Mason, Pogba and James as the MOTM contenders on MUTV which will give him a confidence boost.

We all love United
Great potential but how is it that he's so composed and clinical in finishing in the youth teams yet screws up the easiest of chances in the first team? It's like watching two different players right there

Just nerves, once he gets his first goal I'm sure he'll be fine. He's snatching at his chances right now, you can tell how much he wants to score.

This is what made Rashford’s debut so special.

He’s 17 years old guys! How many other attackers in world football are playing for a top side at that age? Once that first goal goes in he’ll relax and be smashing them in for fun!

Can he play RW? Has he played there for the youth teams?

Seems to have brilliant movement.
He can play anywhere across the front three, he'll end up as a striker eventually though. Being two-footed means he can cut in from either wing so I'd be surprised if we didn't give him a go there. His movement's class, no doubt.

The amount of opportunities he gets is encouraging. Says plenty about his ability to create them for himself and also his movement/instinct in and around box.

Really hope he can get that first goal in our next game. Just get the feeling, once he gets one, plenty more will start to flow.

He’s the most comfortable and threatening RW we’ve had for a long time. Could end up as a striker eventually but currently I’d use him on the right.

Controlling your emotions is what makes the best players who they are. He'll get there

Everything seems to come naturally for him. His movement and dribbling seems so effortless, very excited to see what he can bring next season!

Love watching him play, he showed lots of his abilities today even though he was played out wide, his composure was off which is unusual for him, but it never phased him, that was important and tells me he will be fine, he created that chance afterwards that hit the post, very unlucky.

The important thing is that he's still getting the chances, he's getting into good positions and beating his men, that's why I'm not really worried. His finishing's usually fantastic so once he gets going he'll be fine.

Yep, I love how 2 footed he is, that 2 footed shuffle dribble through 2 defenders out wide was superb too, he is going to be a great asset and offer penetration when teams have 10 men behind the ball.

So two footed! Huge for a striker as he can get shots off from most positions. Loved the step over and the right foot shot that hit the post, so smooth.

Can't wait for his first one to go in, won't be stopped after that.

I don't want to put too much pressure on him but I think he'll become a two-footed Salah/Van Persie hybrid.

It was a mixed bag from him today but his movement and ability to make chances for himself is very promising. Just needs to get confidence on his finishing. People have criticised his finishing but he’s hit the post in both his appearance for us and could have had a number more. You have to take that as a good sign.

Once again his obsession for goal is immensely exciting. He’s got that C Ronaldo hunger and RVP attackers movement.

He’s 17
17.....

I'm hearing that he's banging goals left, right and centre in the youth squad, but I'm yet to see him strike a ball cleanly. That said, he did everything apart from score today. Made some nice jinky runs and displayed good, intelligent movement. Was also with his effort that hit the post.

Having watched him today and seeing highlights against Cardiff, there's definitely a player in there. He makes things look easy, which is the sign of a good player. Can only imagine Ole hasn't gone for a right winger because he wants to give this lad a shot there.

He's not even 18 until October. It's obvious that he's snatching at his chances with a lack of composure, he normally strikes the ball extremely well so can see him scoring one and never looking back really.

Not worried. The first goal will do him good but he's also been unlucky. As a player, he has the potential for goals and to create. As long as he keeps on running at players and being positive this can be all character building. He's very young still but we can see his play has promise.

He's already good enough to start and be the 1st choice. Moves like a seasoned veteran , no kicking and chasing or anything like that. Destined for the top.

Out of all the youngsters he’s a cert.

Give him or Lingard 40 games this season and I know who’d get more goals and assists.

Yeah when a 17 year old hits the post twice in his first 2 real appearances, when hes involved in so many other chances, it can only be a good sign. He's been unlucky to not have a couple of goals already at least, and just looks so good and mature in so many parts of his game. To be snatching at some of his chances, at 17... I think that's understandable and not a worry in the slightest. Its normally a bigger problem with footballers when they dont get any chances and are just on the periphery in games (like Sanchez). That's why if you give a straight comparison of Greenwood and Sanchez/Lingard/many of our other attackers, the same position and amount of minutes, I have no doubt who will be better. Same with Gomes and a few of them.

I can completely see why people who don’t watch the youth teams regularly have concerns about his finishing/ball striking based on his 2 first team appearances so far.

But I think this is why the rest of us have so much faith that he is nailed on to get to the very top. Ask anyone who has watched him in the youth teams and they would have listed his ball striking with both feet and clinical finishing as 2 of his best attributes.

The rest of his game has been nothing short of brilliant and if(when) he starts to show the finishing ability he has at youth level, people will really start to see what all the fuss is about.

People talking about rashford as our future number 9, I’d be willing to bet a lot of money that this guy will displace him in 2/3 seasons, if that.

Wasn’t particularly impressed with this performance tbh. He’s got more in him but typically he’s found the step up a tad tough.. he’s evidently nervous and anxious to impress rather then feeling like he already belongs and isn’t finding it as easy to beat grown men round the outside as he lacks that elite tier express pace so is a little predictable as he’s forced to come in more often then not. I’d keep picking him and let him grow into that right sided role - best place for him to develop at the moment. Sticking him back in youth football isn’t going to challenge him enough.

Once he gains more strength and experience he'll be a top top player. Looks like he will be playing some games at RW for us next season.

Pace and finishing is the least of all concerns regarding MG. I think he is still finding his way around senior football and is lacking a bit of composure. However, I think the lack of space, technique and creativity among his teammates also forced him to do a lot more than what a 17yo should have to. Imho, the biggest talent U20 talent I’ve seen in our club since CR7. Cant wait for the season to start.

He’s the only united player I really like. Think this kid is more than special. He’s the type I wouldn’t be surprised if he got a good 20 goals next year, age ain’t nothing but a number.
