I'm happy he's going. Our attack while still under strength will be a much better place without his awful first touch ruining everything.

Lukakus fee will basically cover what we’ve spent on James and AWB. Hoping when he goes we start to spend big.

Has there been any rumours of us being linked with a replacement?

I'd be a bit worried if we started the season with just Rashford and Greenwood (and Martial I guess?)
More worried about our lack of wingers with the ability to create. Both Rashford and Martial are end product players and arguably better suited to play as strikers or inside forwards ala Salah than wingers.

Our attacking options(ST, LW and RW) are:
Martial, Rashford, James, Lingard, Mata, Sanchez, Greenwood and Lukaku.

Quantity over Quality. Outside Mata(and maybe Greenwood), these players are not good at passing the ball and dependent on space. What we need are players able to pass and being press resistant. If we managed to sell Lukaku and pay of Sanchez and then replace them with a left footed RW like Ziyech (goals and assists) we should be better off compared to before.

Yes English is my first language. It just seems polite to me. Does it really irritate you that much. I realise some people use the word mate, in a belligerent tone. Is that why you dont dont like me using it mate?
I had a mate who used to get offended by me calling him mate. Now he's not a mate! I digress sorry. Yes looks like Lukaku's off, will be interesting to see if we sign a replacement.

Rare to hear a manager speak so bluntly and openly about another club's player. Bad form.

He surely can't be surprised that Inter are unable to afford him in the current market. The whole chasing of Lukaku from Inter this summer has just screamed delusions of grandeur.

Conte

He's publically aired his frustrations. Surely we can just drive Lukakus price as high as can be. Inter will need to fund him to save face or risk a rocky relationship with their new marquee manager.

If its FFP related they should sell some players. I don't see them doing much outside of wasting time to fly to London for shit Lukaku bids.

Really pisses me off when clubs openly talk about our players whereas we do the 'gentlemanly' thing and mention no names when we're asked

We just must have something agreed behinds the scenes with a replacement (RW or Striker) on the hush hush in case he goes, thats what I'm clinging to anyway :wenger: Although you'd imagine if that is the case that it wouldnt be top tier but someone like Dembele (Striker) or Ben Yedder, someone who would be happy with the arrangement of a possible move if we do sell Lukaku.

Think it's interesting too. I definitely think we need one if he goes as if we have injuries to Rashford or Martial, I think it would be a lot of pressure of Mason, which I think he doesnt need. As Sanchez only scored 1 league goal all last season. I don't think he can be relied on mate.

Conte pretty much just confessed Inter’s cards to United.

I bet it’s now more likely than ever Inter settle closer to United’s evaluation than the other way around.

Feels nice being in this position for once, we are always the ones getting quoted stupid prices for players. Let Inter work really hard for Lukaku, payback for Perisic a couple of years back.

I remember when Conte said regarding Juve transfer budget “you can’t sit in a starred restaurant with 10€”

United need to find some middle ground with Inter and get him out the door. Not saying sell him cheap, but I think United want a bit too much for him (£79m). Inter are offering £60m plus bonuses so they are not miles away. Lukaku is a big earner who brings little to the side considering his wages so United need to get him off the books, I imagine the longer it goes on the more likely it is United will drop their valuation.

Nah, screw that. We can stick him on the bench if Inter doesn't meet our evaluation. They can risk Conte throwing a strop and ruining their season if they don't get him in.

We can't just keep giving in to other clubs and let them mug us continuously. There's a reason why we barely sell players for decent prices, everyone knows the club will cave in and all they need to do is stay firm while we give them a bargain eventually.

If we sell Lukaku we'll end up having to sign a replacement striker, but if we keep him we'll end up having to buy a replacement subs bench.

What does the caf think of Diego Costa as a replacement for Lukaku? Might not be the most popular option personality wise but has he regressed during his tenure at Athletico?

I wish we had swooped in for Haller as a replacement. Have we even been linked to other strikers than Dembele and Ben Yedder?

If we don't, then we are well and truly knackered. Relying on Martial and Rashford is simply not good enough, because they are not good enough to be the main strikers at our club; we need a world class striker.
