By all accounts he and his family love it in Madrid. It's the language he doesn't speak, the culture and way of life and city he seems to love
See see senior. You’d think with all that money he would have made the effort to learn, he could really have immersed himself into the Spanish way of life.

Oh shit, I've just been talking to a family member. This forum had better invest in some new servers/bandwidth.

I might take a break until September.

You know that one socially awkward kid that just says and does the wrong things at all the wrong times? Hes always thinking he’s nailed it in his head.

Ed coming out proud with his hands on hips having signed Bale in a part deal for Pogba is going to be one of those moments. A complete and utter brain fart but he’s going to own it like a polished shit

If we allow Pogba to go and don't get SMS & Bruno, but just Bale, we might as well give up before a ball is kicked.

But I truly believe that we're not that dumb.

If we got Bale cheap/on a loan, with Madrid paying some of his wage? I wouldn't be mad....

Maguire, Wan Bissaka, James, Savic, Bruno Fernandes, and Bale would be good business imo.

Think we’re going to sign four players before the window closes when it’s taken us months just to get two over the line?

We could be waiting on Lukaku and Pogba moving on.

All the current speculation is we’ve got deals agreed in principle, subject to sales. If the two sales happen and we get Maguire as well, then we could well get 3 players in.

Why do we want a broken down player, Real would offer less overall cash for Pogba. Bale is finished as an elite player. This does not take into account the astronomical salary he would want. It would be Sanchez times 2

A very good chance this turns out like some of our other big names, but at this point I'd happily stick him up front or on the wing.

I asked a hypothetical question based on a certain set of circumstances. I'm not wrong.

Do you think Ronaldo would take a pay cut to play in Europe for a big club rather than goto a lesser league/club for the money?
It depends on his situation, if he feels that he can't do it anymore or he's close to retirement, he might go to US or somewhere else, but moving to China at 30? Most top players wouldn't do it. It just shows an absolute lack of ambition.

Your hypothetical question came up because Bale has had a Ronaldinho-esque decline (relative to his level), most top clubs aren't interested in paying even half his wages, and that's on him.

What would you accept as some of his wages? he is on 600k a week, I don't think Bale is worth 300k a week for the next 3 years. and signing another 30 year old winger to a ridiculous contract would be utter maddness!

Also if you believe the BBC it has been called off at least partially becuase Madrid want a transfer fee. So if you think Madrid arn't taking the getting the 90 million of wages of their books for the next 3 years its highly unlikely they are going to pay half his wages for the next 3 years (around 45 million).

How much is Sanchez on compare to Bale?

I wouldn't mind a straight swap loan deal for a year

I have a really bad feeling about this.

I can definitely see a Bale+cash for Pogba deal on the cards, it has Ed written all over it. He'd see it as a triumph too...

(I am actually not adverse to giving Bale a go, as long as there was no fee and RM payed a % of wages - just not in any way as part of a swap deal or the like).

I can't see Woodward adding another huge wage earner before offloading Lukaku or Sanchez or both, esp with De Gea and Pogba's huge deals.

Too bad the guy has such crazy wages because even when his speed goes more and more as age and injuries catch up I can see him easily adapting to playing in a deeper position as a midfielder and being as effective from that position as gerrard was.

If we get a good deal for Bale and get Madrid to pay most of his wage I think I'd be fine with it.

As unlikely as this would be, the above scenario would be a no-brainer

We all know he wants to stay and Madrid do not want him Zidanes comments were at a point where the deal was already progressed it seems.
We also know him and Zidane have issues, they do not like each other
However we also know Bale has had offers from Bayern, Spurs at least and has turned them down for big money in China
So its clear that its not a one sided issue, especially when we know both Bale and his agent have been vocal about Zidane as much as Zidane as been vocal about Bale
Before Zidane was even hired as manager Bales agent was already speaking about how it will cause a problem with Bale, its clear it is not one sided
We don’t know either of those things. Unless you can show me otherwise over and above twitter or similar. I haven’t seen any credible reports of serious offers from either of those clubs. Spurs can’t pay the players they have now.

Engaging in speculation myself, I could see Madrid not being keen to let him leave on a free to another top European Club, largely because if he did well they’d be criticised. I suspect that’s why China was an obvious option.

Having let him agree a deal, presumably fully aware that the Chinese club wouldn’t pay a fee, they then pull the plug.

How can he be criticised? He hasn’t openly agitated for a move - Madrid have tried to force him out and failed. His agent is earning his money by sticking up for his client in the face of very poor treatment.
