Don't know anything about Allan Saint-Maximin. Can't remember ever seeing anything of him besides this video I've just watched on YouTube:

Duncan Castles has linked us to him today.

Anyone regular Ligue 1 watchers able to comment on him as a player?

He has the tools but lost the toolbox, they are all over the place.

I remember a lot of noise about him when he was going to Monaco but then I don’t think he ever played and they moved him on pretty quickly.

Was a Saint-etienne player before, but can't say he's done anything close to consistent yet at the multiple teams he's been at. Also, think he had some off field issues. Would prefer Ismaila Sarr, if only based on what I saw of him at the WC, if we're going to gamble on someone.

This sounds less than promising.

I see. Honestly wasn't impressed by what I saw of Sarr in the World Cup. However, I can't claim to know much about him either.

 Great way to put it.

Won't disagree. But hey if cheap enough just feed the muppet for shite and giggle. There were some people wouldn't mind A. Traore who is comparable...

Edit: In an ideal world where everything click for him, he may be monster of players: bravery, pace, trickery, imagination (try different things rather just one route), energy, willing to run...

Would rather just give the minutes to Chong honestly.

The guys talented but seems more of a "scouted" player than somebody Jose would actually want. He's pretty much Nani on a bad day.

Poor man's Ben Arfa.
Very different.

More like poor man but with more strength Nelson Martins. Very explosive, but more often than not terrible decision making leading frustration for his own teams

He can play on either flank and is very pacy with bags of tricks can beat his man with relative ease. Though his decision making in the final third leaves much to be desired as he usually chooses to beat another defender rather then play the ball in the box. With that being said talented player but no where near Premier league quality ...yet.

No idea who he is but he's got a fantastic name, he sounds like a villain Bond would play some fancy card game against aboard a yacht on the French Riviera.

Zero football intelligence, passing ability or end product. Far far away from a top player, just a take-on merchant who probably won't ever break trough because he can't actually play football.

I think you're OTT with him not being able to play football.

He's not football smart, but far from braindead than someone like A. Traore who keeping width outside the box when his team was attacking from the opposition wing and can cross anytime now; or come to pick the ball form his teammate instead of making run push forward... The bad decision making here is like choose wrong type of pass, overdribbling... The basic of knowing when to getting into attacking position (opposite of the above situations), this ASM guy is Okay.

Our team needs player who can take on opposition full back especially on the right wing. Rashford Lingard is productive at beating fullback with dribbling. Martial doesn't take oh enough. Alexis can do better but didn't do it so good, and more important he needs someone to share the burden as he has quality to offer closer to goal. Our full backs from lasts season are terrible. Pogba shouldn't be too burdened with this task also.

Edit:

Highlight is not the best to judge a performance as it hide bad things which more often than not happen off the ball. The point of this highlight is more of what I said about the good thing when he's on his day can bring. Energy, stretching play, unpredictability, direct, supportive to the central froward rather than competing with him...

My god. That video! It's the most weirdest thing I saw today.

He looks like he's going to fall every second, yet he doesn't. And somehow manages to keep the ball. And play a decent pass. Or sort of.

Don't know, watched it twice, still don't know what to say. Never seen anyone like that. Funny chap.

He'd probably confuse our players more then the opposition ones, feck me, i think even he doesn't know where he's going with it.

Yeah, he looks very unpredictable. Even if his technique is not the best, he has a lot of fantasy. Very brazilian-esque.

But that's very positive, anyway.

Cool name. Up there with Jose Karl Pierre Farfan who played for Lens years back.

Has Plea gone anywhere yet? He's the Nice attacking player who consistantly impressed me last season although he's not Man. United level standard.

I mean, he's already broken through considering he's playing top level professional football.

He’s only just turned 21 and he’s been playing top level first team football for 4 years.

Maybe a bit early to write him off completely?

He was on the left for at least 75% of that highlight video...
“Where I feel the best is at left midfield,” admitted Saint-Maximin. “But it doesn’t matter where I want to play, it’s up to the coach. I love football, so it doesn’t really matter – I just want to play… except in goal!”

Well, I guess LW could do with a little bit more reinforcement...

Newcastle signed him, six year deal.
They are doing some decent business with him Jetro and joelinton.

Also Everton have made some great moves as well. The Moise Kean transfer caught me by surprise.
