The most illuminating thing about this whole episode is Ed referring to himself as DoF.

I'd love to see 20 pages of hacked Ed emails illustrated by Squires.

It would have been better if Roy Keane was around and Woodward tried on him. Because there would have been no Woodward after that.

Yup.

To think people on here really bought the line that the reason we had no Director of Football was because Mourinho didn't want one.

Ed Woodward regards himself as United's Director of Football and he is not going to give up his powers to anyone.

What a kind of doublefaced shitbag you have to be, to back off from given word behind someones back without even letting a person know, let alone that person being true United legend, after everything he gave to us. "You cant talk to your DOF like that" ... now thats cute.

Away from the Woodward stuff, really good interview... he talks with so much love for the game and the club, it's great to see/hear.

I forgot that he spoke 6 languages, that's impressive... and 75 deices/nephews?! Jesus... no way he's remembering all their names.

Its not about the decision nor the money. Its about how you deal with people and the integrity with which you carry out business. Had Ed told Patrice his decision to his face I am sure Patrice would have understood and tried to come to some compromise. He might have been willing to compensate and buy out his contract to secure his family’s happiness, you never know.
TBF this was early in the career for Woodward at this role. He probably thought as a banker doing this and gaining the extra money was a good thing for business.

I would hope he's learnt over the last few years that you have to be a bit more personal.

Doubt its a question of him being a newbie, more like grade one prick as person.

He certainly does look like a worm. And he's also an ex banker of course. That should automatically disqualify you from running any real businesses in my book.

I just think doing things in that manner, shady, behind someones back, going back on your word without clients knowing has nothing to do with him being new in that role, all those qualities mentioned are part of a being a cnut.

He displays some distinctly unbankerlike traits though. They are supposed to be ruthless, dispassionate bastards. Ed seems to base his decisions on nostalgia and sentimentality.

Incredible interview, I didn't think it was possible but I love Evra even more after seeing that.

Calling his wife ‘Roy Keane’ when she gets mad  . It’s a shame Evra and Keane never played at United together, think they would have got on well.

How do Juve fans remember Evra? He looked to be declining in his last few years with defensive mistakes creeping more and more into his game. Still was a great left back though.

I don't know what is up with large segments of this fanbase, but it has always been weird to me how some have built Roy Keane to be this mythical boogeyman

How is it a myth? There have been a ton of stories about his mentality and crazy outbursts.

I guess we have a different definition or understanding of a myth. When I hear that word, I associate it with the Greek mythology, or something like that.

I understand his annoyance and it was shitty but that dicision fetched the club £1.5m.
Which is basically nothing for us and not worth falling out with a player.

Indeed. If I had a cent everytime someone says 'this wouldn't have happened with Roy Keane around' I would be a billionaire by now. Pogba wouldn't dare playing badly, Lukaku wouldn't dare miss a goalscoring opportunity, Moyes wouldn't dare sacking Fergie's backroom staff etc. etc.

Specifically, myth means it's not true. Whereas if it was a perhaps exaggerated story with basis in fact it would be legend. So Roy Keane's anger would be legendary given that he actually is an angry mentalist.

This is more shocking than anything we have ever witnessed with Ed. He’s an absolute scum. Spineless. If that’s how he treated one of the legends and heartbeat of the club then why do you think he still has his job?

Glazer’s complete muppet.

Well Roy wasn't exactly the Boogeyman. He was the one you sent to tackle the fecking Boogeyman.

I despise that chinless slimeball so deeply now that this does not surprise me or make him any smaller in my eyes. That puppet headed bellend is nowhere a fit the club, and neither are the owners.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Part of me wonders if this Evra interview has forced Woodward to release info about Dybala to calm the inevitable shit storm. By the end of the window this cloud be brought back up and will spark an inferno, but right now it's flown under the radar.

Ed knows it’s curtains for him if he fails to deliver this transfer window. No way in hell will the fans let it go after this interview and another failed transfer window.

Just saw this on reddit, from his blog post or what ever you want to call it in The Players Tribune (link here) and thought it deserved to be posted.

I love Evra.

Love the guy.

His comment about Ferguson just a couple weeks before announcing saying he's staying surprised me - maybe said in the heat of the moment after Madrid so players keep their passion. But Evra said Ferguson said Ronaldo is coming back and do wonder how much truth there is in that. Ferguson wouldn't have said that flippantly knowing the players can all just ask him.

I did like the bit where he tells Berbatov to call him just to say hello and not when he wants something

Makes you realize why Herrera left. Ed definitely fecked with him like he did Evra.

“I felt betrayed by Ed,” Evra told The Guardian. “I called Juventus to tell them I am coming. Ed then said: ‘We offer you a two-year contract, more money, the captaincy, a testimonial.’ Too late [for Evra to renege on his agreement with Juventus].”
Adds flesh to OPs video.

Evra said he mainly moved for his family in that OP Youtube video. Says Ed Woodward used the extension to do another year on his contract without consulting him (actually after saying they wouldn't).
