Best hope: Martial and Rashford going up a level. Gomes and Greenwood integrating into the first team squad. 2nd place finish, its possible one of liverpool or city drop off but not both, but if we do well enough we could be there to pinch 2nd, I don't think 1st is a real possibility. 3rd is more likely and achievable though. Winning the FA cup would be great as well. Dybala being regarded as one of the best players in the league (and favourites for poty) by midseason would be pretty sweet.

Worst fear: De Gea continues how he finished last season, which was absolutely abysmal, so much in fact that I would say he was most responsible for our poor results towards the end of last season. He cost us several games with untimely big mistakes. First choice defenders getting injured, or any definite starters for that matter, is a fear. Matic being first choice in the season would have me very concerned. Missing out on top 4 as well is a possibility if Arsenal actually get Coutinho on loan and we fail to sign another midfielder. I'm pretty confident that we will finish above them however, if at least, we get Dybala.

Hopes:
That we finish in the top 4.
That the youngsters get a fair amount of playing time.
That Gomes gets his new contract sorted out.
That De Gea regains his form and that last season was a blip.
That all the new signings gel early.
That McTominay keeps on improving and Rashford and Martial increase their goal output.

Fears:
That Pogba gets injury and we are screwed for creativity unless we sign Bruno or/and Dybala.
That Maguire will be our last signing, although I think he will be.
That we don't get injury to McTominay as I believe our midfield is not strong enough.
That we don't qualifu for Champions League again.

Best hopes: The youngsters get enough playing time and they provide us with the push we need (and probably won't get by shopping in the market) in the battle for a top-four finish. AWB & Maguire prove to be the two missing pieces that kept us away from fielding a stable and solid backline. McTominay and Rashford take one step forward and show us that they are capable enough to lead United.

Worst fears: It all implodes after a bad start and we end up sauntering in midtable mediocrity. Not just outside the top-four, i'm talking about actual midtable positions.

Couldn't have put it better. Like night and day so I am looking forward to consistency at a high work rate and playing brave football.

Must confess the I was a supporter of Jose. However, I have been far more impressed with the way that Ole is rebuilding the squad. His choice of player is far more logical than that of Jose.

Interesting to revisit old threads. Why do I feel that my 'worst fears' are beginning to look like number two...
