Ed Woodward didn’t go on United’s 2019 Asian tour. He stayed home to negotiate the transfer window. We should know his style by now. Snails pace, can't multi-task, reactive rather than pro-active. And full of entitlement. Patrice Evra tells us about Woodward's role in his departure, ‘I am your director of football, you cant talk to me that way', he squeaked. Where is the (promised) new director of football? Well, here is the Woody news. He lied. There won't be one. Now that he has discovered what a DOF actually does, he doesn't like it one little bit. Woody won't be dictated to.

The window started with the shocking treatment of Herrera, let go, not replaced. It ended with Eriksen, ballsed up.

If certain journos are right, even the good stuff he did, he did it ham-fistedly. He eventually paid the asking fee for Maguire, after failing to deliver the same player for Mourhino 12 months before. Longstaff is another feck up. He could have been signed for £20m this summer. Remember Fellaini – Woody missed the boat on his release clause, and wasted millions.

But ok, there were positives this summer, Maguire, James and of course Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Looking forward to seeing these guys in red. The idea of bringing in the youth is refreshing.

But news stories abound now of disquiet in the youth structure; we know of the issues that happened around scouting. An article in a tabloid claims players were so tired of personal sponsor appearances last autumn that they refused to participate. It is easy to believe that Woodward is not liked or respected inside the club. He has the aura of a particularly worm-like prep school teacher.

For how long will Solskjaer keep smiling?

He's been a disaster this window again, you can't put a positive spin on it. Really strange how this embarrassment can continue.

When I see what Spurs are doing it makes me feel physical sick. Regardless of whether Rom was the long term answer or not, letting a player in his bracket depart the day before the window closes is sheer idiocy. What I don't yet understand is that they don't realise that if you get it right on the pitch and challenging then sponsors will fall over themselves to have a piece of Utd. So in return they actually make more money.
The moment we sold Lukaku should have been an announcement that we signed a replacement. We were in the process for literally the whole summer. This is really some inept crap we are pulling here. To frantically trying to secure a replacement at this hour is really laughable.

I don't get it really. I am Turkish and I understand there is a huuuge gap between our fan cultures but, if any sort of situation happened in one of the biggest Turkish clubs, Ed wouldn't even dare to come to the stadium. It has been seven years, and other than a small chant in Newcastle game, no protests has taken place. I don't get it.
We have a very weak fan group that is the problem that go to the games. There is alot of the United fans who are frustrated and angry. But there is alot of fans that have no clue what goes on behind the scenes and think it will be alright, without understanding the issues that we are facing. 50% of fans at OT would probably want a selfie with Ed Woodward.

Even on here, people defend Woodward and the Glazers, saying that Fergie was successful under the Glazers as well. Remember the protest in front of Old Trafford that got shot down by "level-headed" people on here? I'd say whatever happens to Manchester United now, our fanbase deserve it. We all deserve it for shutting our eyes for too long, convincing ourselves that things would magically turn out all right.

Short answer: Victories cannot be achieved without actions and sacrifice. And cannot be achieved by sheer Top-Red attitute on Internet either.

Agreed. Our fans deserve what they get because alot of fans have the argument that we have spent the most amount money etc.. however; if you look at a club our size you cannot spend that much money get things wrong and still have the same man in the job. The fans are all happy with one £80m signing and they are back on Woodwards side.

I believe we have sacrificed enough as fans, the club need to do their job.

He needs to go but he makes Glazers money so he wont. It's sad to see this great club being launched into Mediocrity. The theatre of dreams is literally falling down around us. I hope the match going fans tell them what they think this weekend.

There can be no excuses for this season. We've had a shit window and it lies with everyone at the club.

We have got ourselves in a situation where we have weakened our attack and midfield, got the best keeper in the world/our best player obviously in the final 10 months of his contract, our star outfield player begging to leave and all our rivals have strengthened more than us/look more secure in the future

Spurs are now a more attractive club to players than United. World class players, world class manager, world class stadium. Meanwhile we're slumming it with a manager whose only achievements are in the 24th best league in the world, half our squad is filled with either aging past their prime players, or middling dross. And Old Trafford, despite being the largest club stadium in Britain, is a shambling mess with terrible facilities.

Well done, Ed.

Believe me, if we manage to finish top four with this level of net spend (after Lukaku sale) and maybe more sales to come, the Glazers will personally march Woody around the Old Trafford pitch atop their shoulders.

For a bloke that likes to discuss social media numbers you’d hope he takes a look at his name on there at some point today.

If Spurs start to pull off big deals for players and Arsenal improve their defence, meanwhile we sit around and pretend that the window has been brilliant, things will get a bit ugly.

He's a disgrace to the club.

The fans at OT better not stay quiet if we endure a similar season to last.

This has gone on long enough.

We talk big, especially Ed, but we act like a small time club. It is beyond a joke now. Our structure, our transfers, our football/team decisions all horrible. As long as they have enough money to take out things are fine.

He needed to have a great transfer window but messed up completely

As it stands, Spurs and Levy have stronger intent of closing the gap on the top 2. Woodward in the meantime is briefing how we are restoring our identity, while loosing 2 important midfielders and a striker and bringing no one.

Ed must be praying for a win on Sunday to relieve some of the pressure on him.

Not going to lie lads, I am having a real meltdown. He has totally failed to back the manager and it seems that as of now we have moved sideways whereas our rivals ex Chelsea have all progressed.

If we didn't overpay for AWB ( who is still not a complete player in terms of going forward) and Harry Maguire ( a premium for being English ) we wouldn't have gotten those two over the line as well.

If we add No midfielder, its a complete failure of Ed Woodward .

I’m starting to believe Woodward is a drug company shereholder. This window will massively boost the sale of antidepressants...

Last season it was clear that we needed a CM and a CF, minimum. We have now lost a CF and a CM , who have not been replaced, so we are actually worse off overall apart from our defense.

We have signed 1,ONE established player and 2 younger, potential type players. (AWB is slightly more developed than James but is still very young)

Mind boggling what goes on at the club, Woodward talks a big game but that is about it. I am 100% behind the whole long term approach and the idea of blooding in youngsters but given how far behind we were last season we need some experienced players desperately. We could run the risk of falling further behind if we are not careful.

As it stands, overall not a good window. 6/10 for me and large part of thanks is thanks to the arrival of Maguire.

I get the feeling that money is being held back for a Sancho move next summer. Would be a huge gamble, with CL far from guaranteed. Defence has been fixed, midfield and attacking options weakened so it feels like no progress has been made.

I don’t get it, we finished 6th, we’re not in the CL, it’s clear we’re not on an upward trajectory and players can see that. Why are we taking the moral high ground and briefing about how we aren’t signing players who don’t want to join us?

The board got us into this mess, so it’s their fault. The lack of investment these past two years has been shocking. We fixed our defence... fantastic, it’s about time! However, we’re weaker in midfield and attack. To add further misery, the top 2 are so far ahead of us it’s a joke, Spurs and Arsenal are making big moves this summer too, so we’re going to get left behind. I just fail to see the logic.

Money being held back? let's stop protecting Ed Woodward, we have enough money to spend £150m net per year on transfers.

Defence hasn't been fixed, we've just bought ourselves a delay with 2 good acquisitions. Having so many average defenders on the team is still a source of major concern. One injury and there is no one reliable.

Not protecting Woodward at all, just seems like something he’d do. 70m net spend is ridiculous considering the amount of holes in our team
