This just proves to me the 100m budget was true, and we're skint.

If Juve are that desperate to subsidise wages then surely we could get a better deal if we REALLY wanted him.

Glazers are pathetic.
Juve weren't going to swap him for Lukaku and pay his wages for us ffs .
Now the money is in their pocket instead of tied up on the Belgian plus his waves they're able to ease him out the door.

Is the debt becoming a problem for them to service? Has it really not decreased since they took over?
The debt is not the problem. Its just about running a business. Players are seen as assets. If something is perceived to be wrong with an asset, they will not buy the player. The same happened with Perisic over £5m.

What an utterly stupid thing to say. Do you need everything spelled out to you?
Maybe so. Help me out since I'm not as clever as you Bubz. Why would a top player be swayed by a manager having had an undistinguished international career for the same country they play for?

We've spent £145m this summer, how on earth are we skint? Please think before you type

We were also willing to write off a 75m fee to do a straight swap for Dybala. What we apparently drew the line with was another player causing disproportion in the wage structure, 15m in Agents fees, complex image rights and yeah the player not being 100% convinced he even wanted to be here

It's nothing to do with a transfer budget at all

Exactly.

Of course Spurs are an attractive proposition from a football standpoint, if they can agree the financial side it will be a worthy gamble for them. It would have been a gamble with us as well.

The moon gave me flowers for funerals to come.
I don't really get it.

If we didn't sign him because he didn't really want to play in the PL, why does he suddenly want to play in the PL now?

If we didn't sign him 'cos he wants a crazy wage, how on earth are Spurs affording said crazy wage with their tight wage structure?

If we didn't sign him because the deal is too complex with this image rights shit, how have Spurs managed to sort it out?

I don't really get it.
They have a better business man in Levy?

Or it's just an excuse to keep us fans on side to say 'hey look we tried'. It's rubbish we'll have spent just over £120m net the past 2 seasons, that's no where near enough for a club our size that has so much that needs doing to the squad. We're run by a set of clowns who don't know what they're doing.

Went to a team that was CL finalist, has a proper structure and actually has a legit chance to challenge the league. It is sad but true.
I'm thinking at Juve to where Sarri doesn't want to give him and shot and Juve is offering to subsidizing his wages

That’s true, ours is by far the bigger risk.

Exactly.

It's also a gamble Spurs can probably afford to take, whereas our gambles in recent years have lumbered us with the likes of Sanchez already

Nice gesture from Juve to help out with the wages and a good move for Dybala and Spurs. Worked out pretty well for all parties.

They have reached the same stage we got to wages agreed but stuck on the same agent fees and image rights, be interesting to see what happens from here.

Either way it does read like we were unwilling to spend any more money, fair play to spurs if they pull it off
I'd say it's pure bullshit quite frankly. The club trying to save face because he didn't want to join us. Spurs are arguably a more attractive proposition for him right now, especially with Poch at the helm.

Yh exactly, we already have the league's highest earner who sits on the bench.

Dybala is not what we need, we need to address our obvious weaknesses (RW and CM) and not just throw in another 10 who will be shunted around the pitch to try and get the best out of him.

We've sold Lukaku and not replaced him. That's a 75m net spend. You really think that's good enough to catch back up to Liverpool and City?

For one of the richest clubs in the world that's a pathetic sum, especially when we're in need of heavy investment.

There is something very odd about this transfer. I still can't get my head around why Juventus are off-loading him - they could try to force other players out of the club, so why are they forcing out Dybala?
Knew it, as did a lot of fans mind..

Something incredibly dodgy going on and I am glad United pulled out.

Although I'm pleased about this cause he would of been an amazing signing for them it still just goes to show that we could of signed him considering Di Marzio stated Juventus were already getting weary of the deal with Spurs and would of much preferred to sell to us in return for Romelu Lukaku. I honestly believe we could of got him and it will annoy me that we didn't reactivate this deal.
