The club is an absolute shambles in terms of its player recruitment and sales.
We have failed to address key areas of concern namely midfield and following the sale of "fatty first touch", a goalscorer.

I cant help but think Ole has been let down, hung out to dry and we are praying the youngsters perform to save face.
Its been a poor window and will be a battle to make top 4.

So less than 100 million net spend last year and less than 100 million net spend this year. huh!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I really dislike Jose and his time here but the signings of Fred and Dalot were never going to make up a 20 point gap to City in the previous window. Likewise, I wonder if we'll be saying the same at the end of this season regarding top 4, and that AWB, Maguire and James are not enough considering the loss of Herrera, Lukaku and even Fellaini (as a squadie). The owners and Ed suck. There's no two ways about it.
Just saving up for Mbappe mate, don't worry.

I think the transfer window has changed for now. Transfers are now too much of a risk. Apart from city activating a low release clause, signings have been mental.

Fantastic.
The part about the transfer debt accrual strikes me as particularly interesting. Man Utd have by far the largest debt here, and I'm curious as to what impact this might be having on the club.

Would I be wrong in assuming that the years of high spending (2014-2017) have left the club with a large number of bills to pay that are still outstanding, and this is the reason for the (relative) tightening of the purse strings in 2018 and 2019?

Too much of a risk? Then do a loan deal like spurs then. Why couldn't we have got Mandzukic? He would have offered something different, and imagine the experience he could've passed on to our young strikers. I think we FAILED big time in this window and we spent peanuts. Disgusted.

30M last year 69M this window, we have spent under 100M combined in two seasons.

Gotta also consider our wages when talking about spending. That's probably why we need to sell first, can't let the wage budget get out of control.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have terrible finances, it remains to be seen how they'll cope with the fallout. City, PSG, and the other oil teams should be ignored as they aren't clean organic teams. Of the reasonable teams, we're one of the top.

In addition to our transfer fees which are also one of the highest, we're definitely spending quite a lot. Especially when you take into account we haven't had consistent CL football lately.

We have not spent a lot if you look at it revenue vs expenditure. Liverpool has for example outspent us by more than 50% ( if you look at revenue vs net transfers ) since the Glazers took over.

Honestly I'm happy with this window, if the youngsters get to play and we don't persist with ageing players that should have left a few seasons ago. Just pointing out that the Glazers put us here by neglecting the squad in their initial 7-8 years. SAF was never given the funds to maintain a CL winning squad, he had a 19M net spend in his last 8 years at the club, by the time the Glazers opened their wallets we had a complete rebuild on our hands, it was never going to be easy.

The point is buying quality instead of meal ticket players like Di Maria and Dybala. We usually spend for the sake of it and sign crap or the latest big thing in Europe. I bet the Dutch kids will fade away like Memphis did. Woodward called Leicester’s bluff and lost so Harry the Head has had a week not six weeks to gel which is not enough.
