Apart from Dean Henderson and (injured) Fosuh-Mensah, what other Manchester United prospects are currently out on loan?

How does this compare with the number of players out on loan from rival clubs? Or United in the past?

Is this a problem?

Discuss.

I genuinely think we should be sending Tuanzebe out on loan. Unless he's 100% 3rd choice then I dont see the point in him stagnating here after 2 very good loans with Villa

Not sure who else would be eligible for a loan? I'd say both Garner and Chong are still two wet around the ears for a loan. Joel Pereira I guess...

Kieran O'Hara at Burton.

I imagine we'll sort that stuff out later on, assuming we loan them out to foreign clubs. Out of the first team, I expect J. Pereira to get loaned out (feck we have quite a few keepers don't we?). Other than that I can't see anyone else leaving other than some random reserve players, I think the likes of Greenwood/Gomes/Chong/Garner will stay.

. Pogue you are fecking brilliant. This thread really made me laugh. Lodged succinctly in between the “Ed Woodwood should die”, “United are a shit club” and “If United don’t sign Dybala I’m starting a suicide pact” thread is this quaint little post simply entitled loans. While people are literally losing their minds, you are simply wondering if J. Perriera might get a move to Fulham. You’re a great man Pogue.

There's only a day left to loan him to a premier league or championship club. I think he's staying.

To be brutally honest, Wumms, I started this thread partly out of concern about the same sort or stuff that’s triggered all the other “Oh Noes” threads. General lack of planning, leadership and direction on the footballing side of things. With 24 hours left to give some of our promising youngsters a crack at playing regular Championship/PL (or any other top league) football, we seem to be sitting on our hands.

Quick google reveals the following:

Chelsea currently have 19 players out on loan.
City had 28 players out on loan last season.
Liverpool had 16 players out on loan last season.
Arsenal had 8 players out on loan last season.
Spurs had 10 players out on loan last season
United had 9 players out on loan last season.

Looks like our numbers will be even lower this time round (Wilson sold, Tuanzebe recalled, CBJ on his way out, Willock sold).

I think it’s a good thing. These players are gonna get chances in the first team here. Let’s give them game time. City and Chelsea are a nightmare.

Considering this - https://www.manutd.com/en/players-and-staff/reserves - is our U23s squad (not even updated, CBJ is gone.. 2 of the keepers are out on loan), we dont have too many players to send out on loan.

The reserves have been pretty poor in recent seasons.. a mini clearout was required I suppose.
Wow. That’s a good point. Didn’t really think about how light on numbers we are. Of course, a clearout is well and good but you need to replace those departees. So it’s not only first team recruitment where we’ve been dragging our heels.

You're underselling it there, we gutted them and got rid of so much dross, it was long overdue.

All the players in the loan age bracket are either with the first team or have been sold already. I can also understand our hesitation to send out some of the younger lads on loan, nearly all of our best players youth players are between 17-19.

Recruiting for the reserves is not something that gets done often.

Our U18s recruitment has picked up over the last year.. The idea is they will move on to the reserves in a year or two.
I am not too worried about that.

So looks like we’ll have feck all players out on loan. If we’re talking outfield players only, maybe the fewest in the history of the PL?
Has that window also shut or can players still go out on loan to lower league clubs?

I hope we retain all the youngsters who have a realistic chance of getting game time.

I think it’s closed for PL/Championship loans only. Which is a real shame for the likes of Laird or O’Connor, who sure as shit won’t be getting any first team minutes.

Laird isn't ready for first team football. This season he should focus on the step up from u18s to u23s. Aim to impress enough to get included in first team training with an eye to going on next season's tour.

O'Connor might go to a League one side or maybe Scotland. These windows don't shut until September. We sent a few players (Mitchell, Willock, Wilson) north of the border last season. Although that might have been due to Sbragia's connections which we no longer have.

We clearly have a lot of young players who could go on loan so hopefully the reason they aren't is because Solskjaer is planning to use them in the first team. With someone like Tuanzebe for example it would be mad if he went from first team football at Villa to never playing because we have such a stupid number of CBs.

You think the pair would be ready to in the Championship? I'm hoping they at least get to be part of the squad in the Europa and League Cup, then start the EFL trophy games of course.
