Looks like you can't wait for it.

For such a body language and internet posts expert, you really struggle to see how Ole and Moyes are so different.
Yeah, they choose to be misled just to be outraged. You see the quotes posted and without even checking videos you see the outraged posted banging their tables.
No, not really. To be fair to @7even - he/she has actually tried to engage you with a conversation, to which your replies are obstinate and reminiscent of cult like thinking rather than actually wanting to converse.

He/she has then graciously put forward an 'agree to disagree' message, to which you respond with yet another prickly, offish reply.

You come across as though you actually take conversations about Ole personal to your own ego... and you seem incapable of even trying to understand other fans (and media) dislike of the anything that can be attributed to him.

Just try and take a step back - and remember that other people will have different opinions to yourself.

Doesn't mean they're 'against you'.

The people who get upset about the pressers are the worst mate, don’t waste your time with them. I’d bet 95% of them didn’t even watch it anyway, they’re just reading quotes on here and making up their own context.

Some will literally find any angle to push their agenda against the manager. They’re also not against making shut up.

One of the reply wasn't even directed at @7even. Not sure what your point is.

Also it's ironic you talking about taking things personally when anyone praising Ole triggers some alarm and we see the usual drivel from you and few others. Also ironic talking about prickly replies.

Maybe in your head you assume your posts are neutral and balanced, they are anything but.

fecking hell this is a discussion board, there is no one against "me". I challenge the views that I don't agree with and same with others when they don't agree with my posts.

Exactly. IIRC few of these guys even blamed Ole for smalling contract when he wasn't even the manager at that time.

Again - you become personally agitated, irate and insulting without even attempting at meeting halfway.

We'll agree to disagree, and my advice to you would be to try and chill out a bit on this topic.

Meeting half way? I hope you take this advice when you go on angry rants on Ole for no reasons without even giving him a chance and time.

Regarding insulting, I haven't insulted anyone and if you are insulted by people having different opinions and arguing their points strongly then I would advise you to stop posting nonsense like the below bolded part.

Hang about... are you seriously suggesting that a soon to be permanent manager has no power of veto over contracts handed to players within his own squad...?

He just sits in the photos smiling while wanting the players out of the squad - and then hands one of them the captaincy?

Utter drivel, to be frank mate.

Bunch of pant wetters in here, jesus.

Was the window ideal? Not particularly.

Did we panic buy in order to appease fans and sacrifice the mentality of ‘wanting to play for the team?’ No.

Are we going to win the league? Of course not.

Do people need to realise that dragging ourselves out of this mess isn’t a one window/year fix? Yes.

Do people need to accept we’re not as good as we used to be? Yes. (It reminds me of the British Empire. Used to be huge and successful, but crumbled to a shadow of its former self. However, the folks still think it’s just as successful and expectations mirror this)

Do people need to calm the feck down? Yes.

All leadership in any shape or form must routinely be challenged to be healthy and work as optimal as possible. The opposite is dictatorship and this form a management always erodes from the inside. The day a leader can’t defend or explain his actions then it’s time to move on.

Ole Gunnar has a lot of good qualities and he’s likable man who act with dignity and professionalism. Maybe he’s to diplomatic and nice for his own good to be on such a hot spot, future will tell. Most successful leaders have some sort of “craziness” inside them. Sir Alex had a famous temperament and he was a notorious gambler when managing United. To fully succeed you need a little bit of luck and you also need to take chances beyond your control.

This season Solskjær has gambled with relying of some of the youngsters to make this work. Losing Herrera and Lukaku means that others has to step up and fill the vacancy of theirs quality. That means that Martial and Rashford needs to deliver more goals then last season. McTominay has to become a reliable starter instead of rotating player who played when he’s fresh and on form. Greenwood has extremely little experience on this level so he’s total gamble.

As you see that’s a lot things that has to work in our managers favor.

Another problem is that two senior starters seems to has lost their leg since last season. Matic looks horrible in pre season and Mata don’t fit our new set up with intensive pressing and fast movements. That leaves us with Lingard as a starter and Gomes as a back up. That’s also a gambling.

I’m delighted with Maguire and AWB, we couldn’t do better in that department. Dan James has interesting qualities but I don’t expect him to be so productive as needed. Future will tell.

In a perfect world a quality dm or a attacking playmaker has been ideal. It’s a little bit frustrating to see Spurs and Arsenal to get the type of players that we needed. Ceballos on a loan. Would be perfect for us.

On Sunday I will be sitting in front of my television with high expectations and praying to God that we win and Ole will be successful. As I have done the last 20 years without missing more then two three games since Ole scored his late winner against Bayern. If we win I will totally change my tune and be ultra positive but if we lose I will raise my concerns and you will probably be annoyed with my criticism.

This was a good reply and it deserves a response.

I don't think anyone is looking to blindly follow the manager without questions being asked. People will ask questions, and that's fine, they're entitled to. The bottom line is however, that we simply do not know what's being said behind the scenes but I would be willing to bet my house on what public facing Solskjaer says and private meeting Solskjaer says are entirely different. So this notion that he's some sort of puppet or yes man is absurd, and I've raised this before but there simply isn't enough people (and no shame in this) who have managed or been part of a senior management team within an organisation. Your politics have to be on point in your going to surviveand you certainly can't say what's on your mind otherwise you're finished. Hence my comment about the pressers, they are to be taken with a pinch of salt and if you get upset about them because he hasn't called Woodward a cnut and said the team is a piece of shit then your expectations fall as short as your life experience does.

We are gambling, but we're gambling in the right way, not on £100m signings that don't want to be here. Gary Neville summed it up well this morning, we need to get the culture right first before we start thinking about challenging. I trust Solskjaer to get that right over any of our other managers who seem to have been here to boost their CV before thinking about where their next job is. As much as I hated Lingard last season, I know he cares about United and wants to be here, the issue we have replacing him is that we can't guarantee his replacement would feel the same so it makes sense to keep some players around until the right replacement comes available and wants to be here.

This might leave us a bit threadbare in places but it's better than having another Sanchez, in the form of a Bale, James or Dybala. We can't afford to keep going down that path.

It may look like other teams have gotten players that we need or look good on paper but we were all buzzing when Di Maria and Falcao came in and look how that turned out. There are no sure things unfortunately so I'm not going to get pre-emptively upset about something that is yet to play out.

For me this feels like the proper start of something, it feels like we've finally got a manager who can see a rebuild and wants to play in a way befitting to Manchester United. I know it won't happen over night and this season will be hit or miss, but if we give him the time he deserves and he gets the targets he wants over January and next summer, as well of getting rid of players like Lukaku who lack the professionalism to be at United, then we'll be in good shape sooner than most think.

We're fast becoming Chelsea, where the manager is the beginning and end of all our problems. We all know this simply isn't true.

Like you, I'm also hoping for a positive start, just so Ole catches a break but I won't be overly devastated if we have some teething problems. Anyway, it's game day tomorrow, let's do it!

Good post @crossy1686

I'm on boat with Ole's concept about getting players who are committed to the culture of United. I don't agree though, that it should be a slow process. We shouldn't be like Spurs, who are Ok without trophies for 10 years in the name of 're-building'. That's what small Clubs do.

We are a big Club, and should act like a big Club. There should be no excuse we can't buy new starters more than 2 every year. Especially with the position we are in right now.

Really good post, but bolded part is the problem.

It was obvious after Matićs 6 months at the club that he's going to lose his legs, it wasn't something that happened overnight and whole last season he was really poor. As for Mata it's clear he can still have moments of class against poor oposition, but even then he's hit and miss.

Can't understand why Ole went with new contract for Mata when he's neither young anymore or suited to high press Ole want's to implement in our play. Mata should've been gone on a free transfer (it's not like anyone is going to buy him so with new contract we've somehow managed to protect his value) while Matić should've been sold anywhere to anyone.

I trust he okays the contracts given out though...?

Young, Mata, Jones?

Herrera not getting what he wanted?

All happened during his time here.
Herrera has said in an interview that Ole tried to get him to stay but that the contract offer from United came too late - and he had already decided to go to PSG. So - no, that one isn't on Ole. As for Young, Mata, Jones - you would have preferred to give away 2 of the leaders and experienced players we have ?

Criticizing the players - yes. Criticizing the owners - no.

Pochettino has called for more backing from Levy this window - didn't insult the players.

Benitez at Newcastle made it clear he wanted more backing - was loved by the players.

Conte at Chelsea wanted more backing - didn't insult the players in doing so.
Pochettino got how much backing from Levy the last few windows ? Did he complain then ?

Where is Benitez now ?

Where is Conte now ?

On promoting youth instead of signing new players
"You can call it a gamble. I am just staying true to what I believe in. I believe in this way of managing a football club.

I am paid to manage for the club and it is not just about me getting results now to get my reputation or whatever.

It is about the club going forward in the right direction. If we don’t make these decisions now, they will have to be done in 12 months’ time or 18 months or 24 months because at some point these kids will have to be a part of Manchester United. That has always been the case."

On youth getting chances
"That is a fair reflection (that young players will be given a chance). They have impressed over the last six weeks and in the months before the summer. That is why they went on tour and that is why we have given them so many minutes.

It is not fair on them to be regulars in this team. Of course, we have got experienced players, but they will come in and give us something extra."

On creating a foundation
"We haven’t won the league or challenged properly these six years so of course it’s not where we want to be. But I feel we are on the right track and feel we have a better squad, better team and better foundation this season to improve and take that first step because it will take time.

It’s been normal for me when I have been at this club to be part of a team that should win or challenge. Let’s make sure now that we are part of Man United that we surprise a few people.

My biggest concern - which I’m more than happy to stifle for half a season at least, until we’ve got some actual evidence to worry about - is that Ole is, at worst, being horrendously naive to think he can basically carbon copy Fergie’s approach to team building from 20+ years ago, which even he only effectively did once - in an era where the idea of a money bags mercenary side was the Blackburn team of Chris Sutton and Colin Hendry, and our biggest domestic competition was a Newcastle side with Darren Peacock, Steve Howey and Ruel Fox, augmented by the relative star quality of Ginola & Asprilla, who’d probably be playing midtable in the current age - into a much different, much more cosmopolitan era of English football....

Even if the likes of Greenwood and Gomes do step up in the way only really Rashford has in the post-Fergie era, we’re still looking at least 3-4 years before they’re adequately consistent first XI players ready to plausibly challenge for anything, and that’s just going off the examples of previous starlets, who were often surrounded by genuine big names to help them bed in/learn from... The Class of 92 had Cantona, Keane and a solid defence, and Rooney and Ronaldo then had the Class of 92... hell even Messi & Xavi made their bones in a recent CL winning Barca side with the likes of Ronaldinho, Eto’o and Henry in it...

The idea we can just throw all the youth in at once is alluring, sure, but potentially kamikaze.... for both us and them. The likes of West Ham & Southampton are also famous for bringing through youth, but the difference was they weren’t competitive with it. I dearly hope to a God I don’t believe in that he knows what he’s doing, or we’ll just be like them.
I think we have to look at things realistically. This season will be a means to an end, with that end being Champions League qualification (either through the league or EL).

I believe Ole is backing himself and his methods to replicate and reproduce the sort of football that he was producing when he first came to the job last year for the majority of this season. In an ideal world there would have been a midfield purchase and a replacement for Lukaku being brought in, in addition to AWB, Maguire, and James; but he's obviously been let down by Woodward (quelle surprise). However, with him fixing what was our biggest achilles heel with the two defensive purchases, he nevertheless feels he has a strong enough base to be there or thereabouts for Top 4 come the business end of the season.

Nevertheless, with Pogba likely going next summer, we'll be in for another season of transition in any case IMO (due to us potentially having a whole new midfield being brought in en masse) so the 3-4 year timeframe isn't really an issue and any realistic supporter should be congniscant of that. What will be required of the fanbase and the board is patience. Ole has been dealt a bad hand and he's doing everything he can to get us back to where we should be. I'm confident that the former will be patient, but the latter is where I'm having a sinking feeling...

On Maguire and van Dijk comparisons
"I don’t want to compare us to Liverpool or Harry to van Dijk. But I know Harry is going to have a massive impact on us, yes.

Already this week when he has been in, you can see the impact he has got as a presence in the group.

I’m delighted we have got Harry in because he’s going to be great for this club. He was always my number one target.

He has already shown what a presence he will be and what an impact he will have in the squad. He’s a leader, an established international, a goal threat and a very, very good defender - but also a very composed ball player."

Realistically we've a better squad than we did last year and some exciting youngsters staking a claim for first team spots, I can't complain at that as long as the wheels don't come off. I think we'll get top 4 and hopefully keep improving over the next few years so we're challengers again. If we don't so be it, but it won't be because of this transfer window, and if the team's improving like I think it is then we'll have to keep backing the manager too.

I thought the press conference was good. Its a far cry from Mourinho moaning about every god damn thing.
To me it was boring. I feel like Ole is super busy and focused on answering correctly rather than honestly. He’s probably nervous.

Everyone is nervous but it doesn’t mean they didn’t work well. Ole has a plan and he is gambling on the kids. But it doesn’t mean his presser is boring... we don’t want drama.

I will comment on this part but my answer isn’t directed at you Gasolin, so we avoid confusions.

The best way to avoid nervousness is to be fully prepared and that you feel confident in your own ability. I have numerous times in my career seen talented leaders enter interviews or board room meetings without doing all the necessary preparations that’s needed to handle difficult questions or handle new situations.

Since Ole Gunnar’s appointment he has done a couple of pressers and interviews where he hasn’t been fully prepared. We don’t talk about his daily job with his players, this is how he present his ideas, his visions, the work he’s doing and commenting on players, transfers and future expectations.

The dangerous part when public communication is part of your job is that you can do all the right things but if any of your answers in interviews and pressers are confusing or badly worded you end up with unnecessary distractions and more critical questions. Suddenly if you’re unlucky you have created a “storm” out of nothing and you find yourself defending things outside your control or outside your knowledge.

That’s why it’s extremely important to know how to handle interviews and pressers in the right way. Sir Alex “hated” pressers and certain journalists for a reason. There are to many Custis in this world.

In the end of last season there where a few occasions when Ole Gunnar lost his calmness (or concentration) and spoke freely from his hart about his feelings regarding his squad. From the supporters point of view it was refreshing but from his own perspective his “honest” answers created future distractions.

In his first interview before pre season with MUTV he tried to be over positive without realizing that he was contradicting himself and that unintentionally made him look “naive”.

In his last presser against Chelsea he didn’t say anything wrong but when questioned about transfers and earlier comments he started to hesitate, stumbling on his words and suddenly he opened up the door to the media and his critics.

That’s why being prepared, stay to your script, control the narrative is so important. Whatever we like it or not when you’re under the microscope everything counts and suddenly people pay attention to details, body language and expressions. When you win you can act like a clown without consequences but when you have something to prove or when you don’t meet expectations then every little detail can and often will work against you.

If Ole Gunnar has intentions to be our manager long term then I hope he has people around him who helps him with things like this. Mentors or PR specialist. The mother of failures is when you’re not prepared.

WOW.... with fans like this who the hell needs an enemy.

Get behind your team. We finally have someone that actually gives a damn about our team and trying to re-build the team the way it should have been done right after SAF retired.

Very sensible post. I completely agree, but I think our midfield is a bit weaker with Herrera gone. I expect Pogba, McTominay and Fred to really push us this year.

Yea, nah, those can feck off.

Fair enough, you have laid your points very well and I fully understand. I think Ole has a very good football plan but PR may not be perfect. Again, we are gambling. Let’s hope it pays off today and for the next 4 games. With 4 wins right before the international break, everyone will have to wonder what’s going on and it’s the best thing that could happen to us.

Completely different since we still had a spine of winners and leaders in the team. This season we have no one of that level of leadership or quality.
Yeah no one, McT showed nothing yesterday, Maguire, Lindelof, De Gea, all have zero leadership qualities.

You must have hated yesterday, what negative shit can you come up with today, I'm sure you can find something.

Haha are you ok?

We don't have leaders of the callibur we had during the time the class of 92 came through. That is a fact neither Maguire,Lindelof or De Gea have the level of leadership we had. One match against an also hugely inexperienced chelsea team will change that.

Yesterday I was celebrating like a madman. But that doesn't change the point of my reply to you. You said its the same situation as 95 but it is no where near the same.

Actually the strongest leaders were in the 92-93 team that won the league. They needed to be because we had not won it since the 66-67 season. Prior to that we had lots of winners and strong personalities for instance McGrath, Whiteside, Wilkins and Robson but we won very little.

The class of 92 were not the leaders until much later in their career. They relied on the likes of Robson, Irwin and Bruce. Learn't from them and then became the leaders for the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney.

Thats my point. The poster was saying that our current situation is the same as when the class of 92 came in. But its not since even though we brought in alot of young players we still had a core group of leaders in the team who had alot of experience winning.
