I don't like it, imagine being one of the family members of the victims, would you enjoy this "black humor", I don't see it as "coping" as we don't really feel the pain these incidents are causing, I've been seeing some 9/11 jokes on fb lately, is it a coping mechanism 19 years later?

You’re confusing it. People don’t really think it’s funny. It’s just so commonplace and not enough leaders aren’t willing to do anything about it and many citizens are so indoctrinated into this idea of guns galore, that you can’t help but think of this as a joke. Like, oh look, another shooting in the USA, what a shocker. Also, gun lobbies just want you to buy more guns.

Not everyone is the same as you though. Making a light hearted remark about something serious is a natural response.
To be quite honest though, the situation in America is ridiculous and deserves to be mocked. That doesn't mean it's not serious and it certainly doesn't ridicule any victims, nor does it affect them, which is the main thing.
