Let's see how Liverpool fare this season with their star players not getting much of a rest this summer and their lack of depth in the team. They were very very fortunate with match decisions and lack of injuries last season.

The jammy feckers held on of course.

Could and should have been a very different scoreline.
We missed two one on one’s and their keeper made a couple of great saves. Not a great performance but deserved win.

Why do these feckers look so poor at the back, Vvd not working his magic?

after declaring our 4-0 win against Chelsea as lucky all week, now the narrative towards Liverpool will be "that's what champions do, win when not playing well" "to be champions you need a little bit of luck" and so on and so forth, when they didn't even deserve a point today.

Better second half from us as shown in previous games when its stalemate or we're a goal down. We snuffed out their attacks, forced them into errors but invited pressure on ourselves in the last 10 minutes thanks to that unnecessary and stupid give away. Adrian was having a good game until that point, but he's distribution really is poor.

Another great chance squandered against Liverpool, typical as Southampton should of got a draw out of that game.

Southampton would have been clear at half-time if their strikers had half a clue how to finish. I count 5 good chances off the top of my head.

I know Liverpool had a few as well, but Southampton deserved a point.

Just take the points at this stage, more than a few issues to rectify though, Milner couldn’t turn on the ball all game and there was no pressure on their midfield. Our defensive tactics make no sense atm, it’s fine playing higher up but you have to do the fundamentals involved with that which we just aren’t doing.

You pay top dollar, you get top goals. That's usually the difference between teams.

Looking forward to this city spurs game. Never been this excited by a non Liverpool game. Doesn't mean too much in the league stakes at this stage but the teams on show are mouthwatering.

Not sure what I am more mad about. Adrian nearly giving me a heart attack or him costing me my fantasy premier league defence. Poor game though, I just hope it's because of the midweek game and we don't carry on playing so vulnerable in the next rounds.

Will feel all dirty wanting Spurs to win today.
Spurs are not winning today, it's more a case of how much do they lose by. I seen the Aston Villa game, Spurs were good in patches but Villa definitely had chances. City's 5-0 smashing of Hammers was on another level.

At least Spurs can match City in the fouling department. Wonder if Eriksen will start or if hes all rugged up on the bench ready for sale.

Southampton have money, why are they still persisting with guys like Ings and Long?? They need to slap the cash down and buy a good striker.

Goes both ways doesn’t it. We had the chances to increase the score line before Adrian...did that.

Southampton should’ve scored through Yoshida in the first half. You have to take your chances against the best sides or you get punished.

They did have the better of the first half for sure and in terms of general play overall they were as good if not better. But as so often happens if a “lesser” team fails to score whilst on top against a quality team they usually pay for it.

Considering our midweek exertions I was kind of expecting us to be a bit leggy anyway. Good win, now hopefully Spurs get a result at City.

That says it all about their finishing. It took an absolute howler from the keeper (which was glorious I might add) for Southampton to score.

But that chance for Ings at the end. Shockig miss.

Looks like Karius gave tips to Adrian on how to play from back. Even during 1st half his kick hit Saints player but that time it went out. Cant wait for Alisson to return.
BTW thanks Ings for missing that sitter :D

How come you want us to win?
I'm rooting for you, sod the draw won't make a difference. Not many chances for City to lose a game this season, so one in August will be a good start. And although it means you's winning, I think you'll be the makers of your own undoing somewhere down the line in the season. But good luck and come on!

So I'm watching Pukki's goals from last season and some finishes were top quality to be fair. Not the jammy type of stuff but hard and low in the corners.

As United fans, who do we want to win here?

Seems a bit premature to want City to win considering it's only the second game of the season. But there again, realistically it's either going to be these or those scouse feckers come the end of the season.

I don't think Liverpool get top two this year, not easily anyway.

City will piss the league and Liverpool, Arsenal, ourselves and Spurs will be battling for 2nd-5th.

City. As horrible as it is.
