Lendl and Zverev have parted ways. Not really surprising after comments Zverev was making early in the week.

Kyrgios playing well and having fun in Washington. Some other good videos on TennisTV. He can be an idiot but he's so entertaining and I love it

I'm more and more fond of it too.

No Đoković nor Federer in next week's ATP 1000 Montreal Open. Nadal is there, who I guess will miss the one week after, in Cincinnati. Hope we see Novak and Roger there. Been a while.

Just put it on and Kyrgios is all over the place. He needs to regroup after he eventually loses this set.

From the sounds of it he may just retire from this match. Getting booed

Tsitipas is pathetic too. Third match in a row he’s had problem with his shoe laces.

And it's happened again. What the feck is wrong with his shoe laces. Like the commentators are saying, if it's happened so much, get it sorted.

Fognini has Nadal unsettled even though I think Fognini is injured. Worst I seen Nadal play in a while probably since his last Fognini meeting.

I do think Medvedev is the one with most chances to finally break the big 3 monopoly at slams.

You think? I think he's a solid player but I don't think he has many stand out characteristics to trouble them deep in a slam. The problem as well is that if the big 3 are around and still playing well you probably have to beat one of them to make a final and then play another one in the final.

That said, when the big 3 go away I can see him winning slams for sure.

Nadal destroys Medvedev in the final. 6-3 6-0. The Next Gen are still rather rubbish when they face real opposition.

Nadal didn't play great tennis this week but he was great in the windy conditions.

Easy win for Nadal in the final against Medvedev. The first time he's successfully defended a hard court title.

I wonder if he'll play Cincinati. He's got a nice draw if he does.

I hope he doesn't. He'll make the final, probably lose to Roger or Novak and also be tired ahead of the USO

Nadal shouldn’t risk it for his knees.

But I guess he might as besides Fognini the tournament was straight forward.

I also think you being a bit harsh on Medvedev. He’s been in finals the past week and it has had to have taken a toll on him. I think he should also skip Cincy and prepare for the US open. I know he’s got some good momentum, but so did Zverev on clay last year but by the french open came he was tired because he played 500 and 1000 events.

Yep, Nadal withdraws from Cincy. The draw is heavily one sided, so we should get some good matches.

Murray also returns to playing singles today, playing Gasquet.

Anyone watching Murray? How’s he doing? I know he’s losing, but any signs of him improving?

First set he looked pretty nervous and it was a quite low quality set from both players.

The second set was definitely more encouraging and Murray did some good stuff at times. A long way to go for him.

He said after that he won't be playing singles at the US Open which makes sense as physically he looks way off being match fit, never mind playing best of 5 sets.

Tsitsipas' incredibly embarrassing post RG season continues. He's now 5-6 since bottling that match vs Stan and he's lost FOUR R1 matches since then. I didn't think he's great but I thought he'd be better than the likes of Zverev but it seems like he's just a more stylish but equally rubbish player.

Kyrgios needs to be banned. Watch the game yesterday and he was disgraceful. Basically bullying the umpire and calling him all sorts. Despicable human being, nobody can convince me that’s good for tennis and people should stop the McEnroe comparison. McEnroe actually tried when he went out on to the courts.

Fining him is not the answer. He needs to be banned and long term. He needs mental help.

He’s playing doubles with Kyrgios. Kyrgios is like the person you join if you want to throw your career away.

Feet up at home.
Totally random question but it is related to the thread. Does anyone have access to The Telegraph archive especially from 1987?

Worth a go.

Rublev just won the opening set vs Federer.

He's played quite well but Federer making too many errors so far.

Thought the crowd was a bit weird. I get they wanted Federer to win but that was Rublev's biggest win of his career and it the crowd noticeably flat whenever Rublev won a point..even on the match point there was barely a reaction.

Why is this weird? This is literally how a crowd always behaves in any Federer match that is not going according to plan. It's honestly remotely surprising anymore. Federer's fans at matches are the absolute worst and show little respect for his opponents. Rublev was absolutely brilliant today and got nothing out of the crowd.

Not unexpected but I still find it strange from time to time, this time especially because it's a young player who is probably not known to them. There just didn't seem to even be a small acknowledgement for Rublev which I thought he might have at least got.

Federer fans honestly don't care who the opponent is. It could be a young kid in his first match or it could be a veteran and they'd still get the same treatment from the fans if Federer is struggling in the match. I can only think of Rafa who actually gets proper respect when he plays Federer. Everyone else, from Nick to Novak to Rublev has to go through the same sort of disgraceful crowds, booing, cheering of doubt faults and errors and/or just a general lack of appreciation (silence when they play well) when they face Federer.
Federer himself seems a nice enough guy so it's a pity his fans (in the stadium) just won't ever learn how to behave.

Medvedev wins. Hope he wins it as he’s had a good three weeks, so deserves a masters.

Djokovic had elbow issues yesterday and was below par after the first set.
